Too big for pampers premium

As2155 · 13/05/2019 19:58

Our boys now in size 7. Pampered premium were great but he’s now too big. We have tried the ultra dry and they’re almost falling apart after a nights sleep. They also seem to be irritating him.

What’s the best sensitive nappy with good protection for size 7 plus?

I’m sure they think they stop growing at size 6

Try Pampers pull ups (easy up pants?) . We use size 5 for DS who is just two and they are plenty big enough but the size 5 Pampers Premiums are miles too small. I also hate Pampers baby dry.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 13/05/2019 23:28

The nappy pants are definitely bigger, DS is only in a 3 but wriggles and rolls so much at night we had a couple of twisted nappies and leaks with the premium protection which are fine during the day, so we got nappy pants in a 3, they come up to his nipples!

MyDcAreMarvel · 13/05/2019 23:31

18 months and in a size seven? My sn six year old wears a size six.
Are you sure he needs a seven??

proudwelshmaiden · 13/05/2019 23:35

Unless your child is a giant, I don't think the nappies can be too small Confused. Are you sure it's not the absorbency that's the issue?

IncyWincyGrownUp · 14/05/2019 00:19

To be fair, I’ve found the latest pack of pampers to be much less absorbent than previous packs. I have an i continent child in KS1, and bounce between a few different brands depending on what Incan get hold of. He prefers the pampers as he likes the sides, but libero and Aldi pull ups are much better quality.

Oohgossip · 14/05/2019 01:28

@NCforThisO6 there is no world in which a nine month old needs a size five nappy!! Are you kidding me?! What does she weigh??

Ceebs85 · 14/05/2019 02:09

@Oohgossip

My 6 month old is in 5s. He's 91st centile. It's tummy and thigh size. As he gets more mobile and loses some chub we may be able to size down

Amanduh · 14/05/2019 02:18

6+ is the same size as a size 6 (5+ is the same as a 5, 4+ is the same as a 4 etc) they’re just more absorbent and made for night time use. The plus sign isn’t a bigger nappy.
I can’t believe your child is too big for a six!

TotorosNeighbour · 14/05/2019 02:28

My 18mo is in size 7 pampers nappy pants and he's not even big, only between 25th and 50th centile. He got an awful rash, not even antibiotics worked but disappeared within 24h after going 1 nappy-size up. The weight on package is only a guide, bodies come in many different shapes and sizes Smile

PatricksRum · 14/05/2019 03:13

How are people shocked about the sizes?
My 9mo is in a size 5

Bringonspring · 14/05/2019 03:18

Umm when you say there not big enough, is this from a size perspective or absorption? Drink less/change nappy etc

A 1 and half year old does not need above size 6

hazeyjane · 14/05/2019 06:18

PatricksRum I guess people are just surprised when they have much older children in similar sizes.

Try Libero (as a pp suggested) you can order them from Amazon.

EveHen · 14/05/2019 06:25

Have you tried Rascal + friends? They are new at Tesco and are fab

IntoTheDeep · 14/05/2019 06:42

I spotted Pampers size 8 nappies when I was doing my Tesco online shopping order, so there must be some branches of Tesco that stock Pampers size 8.

Yellowcar2 · 14/05/2019 06:53

My 10 month old wears size 5 as does my 3 year old for bed time. Kids come in all shapes and sizes I'm sure the OP knows if size 6 no longer fit.

Sockwomble · 14/05/2019 07:13

A 1 year old should be ok in a size 6. We found the Asda 6+ the best for absorbancy and were ok with it till ds was 6. There are lots of size 7s or equivalent available online.

Osirus · 14/05/2019 07:21

My nearly three year old has just stopped wearing nappies and she is a size 5, Pampers Pants. I can’t comprehend how your 18 month old could be in such a big happy size! Grin

Can’t help with recommendations, but we’ve always used Pampers and the nappy pants are great, never had one leak.

BertieBotts · 14/05/2019 07:32

I think you might be expecting them to be a bit bigger than they are? I have a 9.5kg 8mo (in size 12-18 month clothes) in size 4. Have tended to size up when he reaches the minimum weight for the next size, rather than wait until the current size are outgrown, but I found some size 2s knocking around and managed to get one on him no issue. OK, I wouldn't have used it overnight, but it fit fine. You don't need the tabs to meet in the middle.

If the absorbancy is the problem, I'd try a size 5 or 6 (whatever weight category he's in) and a size 7 over the top. I'd choose a cheaper brand than Pampers Premium, though.

Mammyloveswine · 14/05/2019 07:34

My 3.5 year old is tall and wears size 5 for bed if i run out of bedtime pullups...

Check out Aldi nappies... much bigger i find than pampers!

Dermymc · 14/05/2019 07:42

My 2.5yo is normal sized and in 5s.

NauseousMum · 14/05/2019 07:51

What part of him is too big? Bum, tummy, thighs? My friend's lg had to wear 2 sizes bigger then her tum needed because of her thighs but she went to pull ups and went from size 6 down to 5 in them.

Treaclepie19 · 14/05/2019 07:51

Pampers do a size 8 which our little boy wears.

newroundhere · 14/05/2019 07:51

We're just potty training our 2.5 year old because his size 8 pampers were getting snug (he's 105cm tall and 22kg), and I'm sure we were in 7s aaaages before that.

OP - you can get pampers baby dry up to size 8, they stock them in some Tesco's and you can get them only. Worked for us.

And ignore the furore about the size, I was really stressed out about it but kids are all different sizes and as DS has grown he has slimmed down a bit. He's not fat, just solid Grin

newroundhere · 14/05/2019 07:52

*online not only....

Treaclepie19 · 14/05/2019 07:54

Also, to the people making statements about how a certain age doesn't need above a certain size.
How do you know?
My little boy was in size 5s for a very long time, way ahead of his peers.
I've actually been worried he would grow out of nappies before he was potty trained.
He's solid like his dad. Not fat, very broad.
