Bloody football

My DH is really down in the dumps after the result yesterday. He had to go out for a walk to 'clear his head' last night. He's in such a mood. When he got in yesterday our DS was trying to tell him about our day and he could barely look at him and when he did he looked so sad, he was so miserable. I am dreading 1st June. The last time he was like this was when Stevie G fell over, I think he was in a mood for a whole bloody month.

I understand he loves the team, I understand all the hype, but for it to affect him so much is unbelievable. His colleague had to take a days emergency leave today!!!!

I had to ask him to be happy when he got in because I was not having him being moody again and creating an atmosphere.

Normally he is a wonderful husband and father!

Prepared to be told IABU

YANBU. It’s fine to follow a team and enjoy doing so, but when you’re in a mood for weeks on end because they lose, you need to look at your priorities.

OKBobble · 13/05/2019 18:32

They didn't lose they won the match but failed to win the league. Personally as an LFC fan although it is annoying we didn't win the league we have had a great season full of highs and hopefully will win the CL. He needs to remain positive for the CL and hopefully we can win that.

araiwa · 13/05/2019 18:38

Youd think hed be used to it by now

MallySally · 13/05/2019 18:39

Childish and sad.

LakieLady · 13/05/2019 18:43

Yep, childish and sad!

EggWrap · 13/05/2019 18:46

This is truly pathetic, on his part.

Supergrassyknoll · 13/05/2019 18:47

I hate to say it but I am a football fan and Liverpool fans are notoriously the most entitled of the lot. He needs to grow up and stop behaving like a spoiled brat, it's pathetic!

AnneField · 13/05/2019 18:49

You can see by my username that I'm a little disappointed myself. But it wouldn't have mattered if we'd thrashed Wolves 10-0, we'd still be relying on the Man City result. There are three positives though - Kloppo has already improved on last year's performance, Golden Glove for Allison and Golden Boots for Mo and Sadio. We've still got the CL to go and let's face it, it can't go any worse than it did last year can it?

So tell DH that at the end of the road, there's a golden sky but if he doesn't cheer the fuck up, he'll be walking alone!

Fatted · 13/05/2019 18:53

YANBU.

DH and I are both reds. Being realistic, we both knew there was no bloody chance we were winning it! One of them 'would have been nice' kind of things. DH was a bit 'meh' for about an hour last night and then fine.

federationrep · 13/05/2019 18:56

AnneField "So tell DH that at the end of the road, there's a golden sky but if he doesn't cheer the fuck up, he'll be walking alone!"** OP this is brilliant get it printed on a T-shirt

AnneField · 13/05/2019 19:00

I fear I've got the sulking to come - my OH is a Leeds Utd supporter and he'll be a right miserable bastard if things don't go their way on Wednesday.

nespressowoo · 13/05/2019 19:11

@AnneField I love that - might get it printed on a t-shirt for his upcoming birthday.

Thanks, everyone. I didn't think I was BU. I've tried to say what an amazing season it's been but he eye-rolls me Angry I love Klopp! I always get behind them and cheer them on but losing the will now.

He's already said he will be worse if they lose on the 1st - god give me strength. I've told him he's pathetic too. He's banned from the house on the 1st.

I hope our DS doesn't grow up to be this involved in it and it have this effect on him Sad

A days emergency leave? Because he had the sads over a football result? I’m actually speechless Confused

NameChangeNugget · 13/05/2019 19:14

I agree with @Supergrassyknoll

They were top dogs in the 70’s & 80’s and maybe this hasn’t helped.

He’s being a tit OP

nespressowoo · 13/05/2019 19:16

@Sexnotgender it wasn't my DH who had the leave, it was a colleague of his. I'd have taken him to work myself if he had tried that.

I once knew someone who took a day off work because her favorite country western singer got married to an actress! Yeah some people lose all perspective when it comes to their teams or celebrities or whatever but I'd pull your husband aside when he's no longer acting like a fool and tell him how he ignored your child because of an idiotic loss! He should be ashamed of himself

UrsulaPandress · 13/05/2019 23:07

Aw bless.

My dd is at Uni in Liverpool so had to sit in the pub and quietly watch her team win the League.

She said people were crying.

IamaBluebird · 13/05/2019 23:20

To react as badly as your dh after the amazing season Liverpool have had is beyond belief.
We went to Manchester yesterday and celebrated our win as if we had won the league, not been relegated.

It was a good day in a season that's been so sad for Cardiff.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 13/05/2019 23:27

City fan here so no sympathy from me 🙈

I do know how seriously some people take their footie.

When City lost to Spurs in the 1981 F.A Cup Final replay one of my DH's friends actually ran off & joined the Foreign Legion - I kid you not 🤣

happyhillock · 13/05/2019 23:30

My team has been relagated i don't see the point in getting all moody or upset about it, Whats done is done, it's only football, my partner got a bit moody yesterday because his team didn't win, i told him to grow up and stop acting like a child

lastqueenofscotland · 13/05/2019 23:32

I’m a city fan but endured 30 years of supporting City when they were occasionally a bit wank. That’s football.
He’s being an idiot

MyBlueMoonbeam · 13/05/2019 23:37

@lastqueenofscotland

I know your pain 💙

MeMyselfAndEyes · 13/05/2019 23:39

Some things are life and death. Football is far, far more important than any of that nonsense Wink

ilovesooty · 13/05/2019 23:46

I'm also a City fan who's supported them through the lean years.
If we hadn't won the league I'd have been really upset yesterday. Fortunately I was with a friend who'd have felt the same. Wink

MiltonRoad · 13/05/2019 23:49

He needs to grow up. I love football and miss it when the season ends but it is just a game. The last time my team won anything was in 1976 - he should think himself lucky 😂
