Got the house to myself so watched the last 3 episodes and I’m so gutted they didn’t end up together Angry

And AIBU to have fancied the priest? Blush

Had to post as none of my family or friends have watched it!

Did you get to the end of it and not realise that the real love story was between the sisters?

Totally

missmouse101 · 18/05/2019 20:05

I couldn't understand why they were declaring 'I love you' when they'd only known each other for such a short time?

Proseccoinamug · 18/05/2019 23:24

I have obviously missed something with Fleabag. I thought it was crap. Explicit just for effect with no reason for it, one dimensional characters who are stereotypes and no storyline.

Maybe I should have given it longer!

chickensdontpocktheypeck · 18/05/2019 23:29

Loved the show. First time I had seen phoebe Waller bridge and she was amazing. Gutted it ended. Now watching crashed because I seen she was in it and so far it’s quite funny.
Mindblown when I realised she created killing eve series

Clearoutre · 19/05/2019 00:46

The stand off in the hairdressers had me howling “Show her the reference!”

unicorncupcake · 19/05/2019 00:54

I just loved every minute. I adore Andrew Scott and during that bit in the church I was literally holding my breath to see what would happen next. And when the fox ran after him at the end I stopped crying and properly laughed Grin it was very powerful, showing how grief and loss and guilt and regret are all wrapped up in one another. The sister relationship was so acutely well observed, and was the love story of the show. Olivia Colman was excruciatingly good as the wicked stepmother, and the cruelty of her leaving the flowers on the steps was so subtle but shattering.

pinkboa · 19/05/2019 01:02

Just binged watched it today. It was a sad moment but I love the ending.

... gives me hope

KC225 · 19/05/2019 02:15

Yes, another one who thinks it was about her overcoming grief - her mother and her best friend. The most poignant relationship was with her sister, hot priest was part of the process. I loved it.

UnicornBrexit · 19/05/2019 02:59

I must be the only person who didn't find this at all funny. It was poor imitation in the style of Green wing.

I tried and I tried for about 4 episodes, I genuinely cant see why people raved about it.

Sunnysidegold · 19/05/2019 06:56

I adored this program and felt so sad when it was over.

At first it was just about the LOLs for me, but then the second series got me with the emotional journey. Fleabag came so far and when you think of it as the development of the relationship between the sisters it has such a lovely ending.

Totally thought Andrew Scott would have his penis out when he told her to kneel in the confession box as Well!!

Fancied him rotten.

Proseccoinamug · 19/05/2019 13:13

You’re not alone unicornbrexit ! There are more of us out there!!

Piffle11 · 19/05/2019 13:31

I enjoyed series one, but series two was even better … the first episode, where she's in the posh toilets at the restaurant and you see her from behind. You think she's touching up her make up, but she's calmly cleaning her bloody nose. When she looks at the camera to the side, and smiles, and says 'this is a love story' - perfect!

billy1966 · 19/05/2019 14:08

I absolutely loved Fleabag.
Next watch Mum if you get a chance. Brilliant
Also I loved Catastrophe.
Fantastic viewing.

guiltynetter · 19/05/2019 14:12

this whole series was worth the watch for the hot priest and the scene in the confession box...phwoooargh!

AyoadesChinDimple · 19/05/2019 15:03

I felt pure anger with sexy priest for leading Fleabag on, but I totally understand that it was about her forgiving herself and realising she was lovable. I desperately wanted him to run after her but I know why he couldn't. Bittersweet.
Love story between her and her sister. Yes definitely.
I watched two episodes and thought it was being recommended to me because I swear like a docker. It took until the end of series one for me to fall in love with her.
One of the best things i have watched in years.

Isatis · 27/05/2019 01:59

UnicornBrexit, I think your mistake lay in thinking this was meant to be a comedy.

avamiah · 27/05/2019 02:09

I just loved series 2 but I wish the dad hadn’t married the nasty step mum .

TanteRose · 27/05/2019 02:12

I thought the ending was perfect!!
I loved this series so much - the first series was so devastating, but the second one really saw Fleabag healing and mending her relationships - with her sister most of all, but also with herself.
Loved it!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 27/05/2019 02:12

@Isatis it's that weird category of "it's not a comedy but it does have funny bits"
Bit like life...

TanteRose · 27/05/2019 02:15

Also recommend Ricky Gervais's Afterlife - in the same way, brilliantly funny but heartbreakingly sad at the same time

PickleC · 27/05/2019 02:29

The relationship with her sister...just so special and came through as the heart of things esp in S2. That was the love story all along. And if there had to be a happy ending it felt right it was Clare's (after everything with her husband urgh).

Just fabulous casting. I think other people are right and the priest could never have given up his calling and made peace with that decision and it felt like Fleabag would be ok. Still shame to know its over mind.

GreyofSunshine · 27/05/2019 02:48

I loved season 1 but I really didn't care how the story with the priest ended. Boring and surprisingly pedestrian plot line.

GreyofSunshine · 27/05/2019 02:49

Everything between the two sisters in s2 was great though. Just wished they'd sacked off the priest stuff.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 04/12/2020 09:34

Sorry ! But loved the comment
Did you get to the end of it and not realise that the real love story was between the sisters?

I’m re watching as off sick 😷
And totally agree , that the familial sisterly bond and when her sister says that she is the only person she would run through an airport for
Lovely

Thisisworsethananticpated · 04/12/2020 09:35

I also liked the priest story as she learnt that she could love a nice
Man
slightly traumatic nonetheless
