To ask how the hell to get highlighter pen out of jeans (photo)

DP has a habit of getting stains on clothes, leaving them for days and then presenting them to me like I am some sort of laundry wizard. Usually I can get the grease ones out but this time he left a highlighter pen in his back pocket and it exploded. Any tips? I got some Vanish oxi action but not sure this will work and don't want to "set" the stain.

Hairspray?

Cheapest one possible, keep spraying until it starts to break down the ink then sling in machine.
Works with sharpie.

He could just pretend he’s been shot in the bottle.

dab it with surgical spirits or nail polish remover then wash them. Try a little bit on the inside of the waist band first though to check its not going to bleach the jeans, I've only ever done it on white school shirts.

Highlighter should just be water based. For very stubborn stains I soak item in water for at least a day. Then soak with neat washing up liquid on stain for a good hour. Wash as normal using in wash stain remover.
The only thing I've found this doesn't get out is biro. With biro I'd dampen clothing then soak anti-bac hand gel on top of stain for 10 minutes, then dab off with damp cloth. Repeat as needed.

I’ve had success with milk for ink. And vodka. I alternated the two, although maybe a White Russian would have worked.

Bicarbonate of soda, make a paste and rub at it with an old toothbrush

I would try hairspray.

It works really well on biro and permanent marker.
