To hope this is a very short thread

It's 11:38 pm here.
5 * 9 year olds. First slumber party together. One(well known to me) is suggesting a '3am' challenge to my dd, the others just want to go to sleep.
She is now complaining she can't sleep when anyone else makes the slightest noise.
Her usual sleep pattern on a sleepover is midnight to about 6 and I frequently give her an iPad just so my dd can sleep.
There has been silence for over 2 minutes now.... since I started writing this thread. Dare I hope for some shut eye?

It's going ok by the sound of it...

DS2 didn't like sleepovers because he wanted to sleep! Seems like that isn't the done thing.
DS1's friends never wanted to sleep either.

You have my sympathy and best wishes!

Tell the one causing disruption that if she doesn't shut up then you'll be calling her parents to fetch her. Ditto anyone doing 3am challenges.
We also threatened and then, at 2am, actually seperated them.
DD in with us, one in DDs room and left the two sleeping ones in guest room.
Never had any issues after that as they knew we weren't parents to be messed with.

Get them all downstairs to watch a film and then go and change the clocks in their bedroom. Suddenly it's 2.30am....

Eponymous · 11/05/2019 15:12

Yeah did that about 20 minutes ago, told her she'd be sleeping with me if she didn't pack it in. Her mums lovely but a total soft touch.
Settled down a lot since then.

Ok. I'm gonna risk closing my eyes. Hopefully you won't hear back from me!

I used to send kids to bed at 11, and make them separate up at midnight if they didn't settle.

No hint of anything later than that. Maybe I'm just a cow.
