To want to emigrate

Posting for traffic..

I'm a single parent and I considering a move down under. I am aware I need 'permission' to leave the UK either from.a court or my daughter's father.

Trouble is, I have no idea who her father is. Potential father 1 (one night stand, well sort of) hasn't so muched as acknowledged her since the day she was born. Potential father 2, was well a one night stand and truth be told, I can't even remember his name. I'm not a massive slag, it was Christmas I was very merry and failed contraception. I wouldn't change it now though!

I digress... so, I clearly can't get permission from her father and I am the only one with parental responsibility how likely is court to allow the move?

Are their names on the birth certificate? I emigrated OP...4 years ago to Australia. I love it.

I have no idea

Who is on the birth certificate? If no-one, then they cannot ask anyone's permission?

DreamsOfDownUnder · 11/05/2019 00:12

Just me on the birth certificate. I suppose that helps!

@HennyPennyHorror are you a lone parent? How was the process?

Yes just you helps enormously!

No I'm not a lone parent. DH and I had no trouble with it because he's Australian.

Do you have good transferable skills OP? What profession are you in? For me the process was easy but expensive. DHs parents helped a lot.

@HennyPennyHorror Well I'm retraining (biomedical field) at the moment but a potential move to Australia really is the driving force. I just yearn for a better quality of life! Australia has just always appealed to me for whatever reason!

Well that sounds very positive OP! I just love it here...and I'm not even someone who likes hot weather!

We moved to South Australia as that's where DH is from. It's not somewhere you read about as much as Melbourne, Perth and Sydney but it's MUCH more affordable and not lying...it's heartbreakingly beautiful here.

There is the city and living close to the city (less than an hour away) we have all the benefits of coastal life but with the amenities we want nearby.

People are lovely too.
