To leave teaching

I’ve name changed for this.

I’ve been in my job nearly 14 years. I’ve recently moved schools, and I’m really struggling.
My new school doesn’t have any clear behaviour management systems. I’ve been sworn at, laughed at, told I’m a crap teacher, and I just can’t take it any more. Maybe it is me.

AIBU to quit after only 3 weeks? And what on earth can I do instead?

OP, is it teaching in general or just a bad experience in your new school?

louhenson · 10/05/2019 18:27

Yabu to leave without giving it good thought. Maybe a new school would do the trick.
Teacher myself btw.

I quit mainstream teaching 3 years ago to do other stuff. Best move ever. Pm me if you want for ideas.

I’ve just given up after 30 years. It isn’t the same job it was. I tried independent and that enabled another 5 years, but I’ve had it now.

Not easy starting at Easter-I feel for you :(.

I’ve been teaching 20 years now and hate it. Colleagues are nice but the actual on is killing me.

i left teaching. I've since retrained to work in Children's Mental Health. I love it.

Can I ask what you retrained in?

Hi OP.

Teacher too, also quitting. Been a primary school teacher for 19 years. Left a school last year after only 8 months and have been doing supply about my daughter's school.

I can't do It anymore. Next week I have 2 interviews with the NHS. If I don't get them, I'll keep trying. When I get a job, I'm looking to retrain. It's taken a year to sort though as this time last year I was in a right state.

Wishing you all the best. The future is bright Smile
