To think if a zombie apocalypse happened, that there would not be an immediate breakdown in law?

In any zombie apocalypse film ever, within days there are roving dangerous gangs killing people and stealing things. I don't think this would happen in Britain. Yes there would be thefts of food, and lots of breaking into shops, but no there would not in days be gangs of roving murderers killing people and bringing fear.

No chance. All it took was a concerted plan to target one town centre and the police were nowhere to be seen except outside the posh shops during the afternoon because they fucking knew about it happening by lunchtime. Once the police failed to turn up in the morning, I reckon by the third night (after the gangland scores start to be settled en masse), the rapists and thugs would be out in force and starting home invasions, as there wouldn't be anything left in the shops and they'd be looking to up the ante.

@Backwoodsgirl thanks, didn't know there were Prepper pages. Had a little browse, very interesting. My latest stock-ups were a Kevlar vest & gauntlets. I rarely mention this stuff irl & there's a tendency for ppl to edge away nervously lol but I don't mind. I look on it as my hobby & it's not like I can't eat/use everything if nothing ever happens.

@clairemcnam in the current days of stabbings with no remorse or thought, it would happen within 48hrs. You think all the wannabe 'gangstas' wouldn't just go out and murder a job lot for their wares? 😂 Wakey wakey. We're in the real world.

We'd be better off with guns in a zombie apocalypse.

I have a very good friend who's a prepper. Only a couple of people know about this. I asked him if he'd take me in when the time comes. He said no, he'd probably shoot me if I tried to get in. It was quite an awkward convo now I think about itHmm

Nope, no problem here being violent to protect my own.

I think it would go to shit pretty quickly and then depending on the long term zombie situation re-stabilise.

Human societies around the globe and throughout history all look pretty familiar really.

You need both ranged and melee weapons for your average zombie. Hardly anyone is a good enough shot to destroy the brain at a distance. Grin

The thing about the zombie apocalypse is that, if you are going to go feral then, the sooner the better. If you can take advantage of the reluctance of others to over react and gather your resources with less competition.

I was thinking that exact thing the other day when catching up on Z Nation. Seems to me that the people who survive in extreme situations are often the ones who jump to some pretty big conclusions quickly and react accordingly.

Though I reserve the right to immediately join the zombie horde and get to brain snacking.

I've enough nerf guns, I could attach hilti nails to the darts. I thought we could move into the attic, though now Zombies are smarter, with the ability to run and climb.

From my extensive studies (George Romero trilogy) I can confirm that zombies retain a sort of 'folk memory'. This means they know to break on to houses and congregate at shopping centres.

When the ZA comes my masterplan is to lure the zombies into Ikea. The fuckers have no chance of ever finding their way out.

@EmeraldShamrock the attic's no good. You'll be trapped if fires are breaking out/being set by zombies trying to light their roll-ups. Can you get to a local library & settle in on the ground floor? I mean, who's going to be looting books?

Did you watch "Blackout" on C4 a few years ago? It was really interesting, and that was just about power going out (which would happen in a zombie apocalypse). "Normal" people completely losing it.

I always think castles/prisons/stadiums would be best in a zombie apocalypse.

Green spaces inside (for farming), defensible perimeters etc.

It really depends on what sort of zombie you have. Vampires (ala Van Helsing) would be more difficult. But shuffling zombies who will presumably slow down as they rot should be manageable.

And yes, I would do anything to ensure my children survived. I am always surprised by those who say they have limits in that respect. Surprised but pleased, less competition.
