Help me identify this rash

To ask do I call Pest control or GP?

I've had it for 3 days now - a couple more spots every day...thought it was either bed bugs or shingles (I've had shingles before).
Bed bugs could be likely as dh travels a lot and although he checks hotel mattresses when he checks in - something could be missed. I have checked our mattress and head board and there is no sign of blood, faeces or bugs...could be too early though?
Spots are itchy and I feel a little under the weather - could be in my head, no spots anywhere else, just on my waist left side.

As someone currently suffering from shingles I would say that’s what it looks like. Especially if you are feeling under the weather. Is half of your body feeling sore/ like you’ve got sunburn or something tingly?

But I have no medical training, just your spots look similar to how mine started.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Oh and I went to the GP. Better to tackle the problem sooner rather then later if you can help it. Grin

Does look slightly like shingles they run along a nerve usually and usually on the right or left side of the torso.
I would advise GP tomorrow without fail
They will most probably prescribe an antiviral
Please though do not take ibuprofen
I am medically trained
SmileThankshugs to you x

Sorry to hear you are unwell @Blahblahgetout, hope you make a speedy recovery! It's not tingly or sunburn sore...it feels the same way it did the last time, I felt slightly unwell and had itchy skin - the nerve pain came later but it's not a great choice shingles or bed bugs!! 😂

Thanks @Saffy1234 Have booked an appt for tomorrow at 7am...either way I need to act fast.

Look exactly like bed bug bites to me. I had them last year, took me months to sleep soundly again 😂..... I'm still on bed bug watch now, can't change the bedding without giving my whole bed (frame, mattress and slats) a steam clean😭😂

Far2go46 · 07/05/2019 22:19

Yep, that's definitely a rash

rotrue · 07/05/2019 22:22

@Parmavioletgin1 Which pest control company did you use...they are meant to be pretty hard to get rid of? Sad

Parmavioletgin1 · 07/05/2019 22:37

I didn't in the end ( I intended to) , when I first found them I had alot of crap under the bed( too small clothes, millions of coats, shoes etc) that would have needed shifting before the pest control came, so I got rid of all that,
I bought a bedbug mattress cover and steamed the bed frame and slats, carpet and skirting board daily for about 2 weeks and put bug powder (diatomaceous earth) round the bed and skirting board. I wasn't bit again and have not seen any bugs or evidence (feaces, blood, body shells etc) since. This was last July, I do however still stream and hoover everything weekly and if I see any more I will call pest control as I also understand that they are hard to get rid of!
I found the actual bugs hiding under the slats of the bed (I had to unscrew them from the bed frame to find the little critters - grim!

rotrue · 07/05/2019 22:42

I'll have to wait till dh gets home at the weekend to do a proper search - the mattress is too heavy for me to lift completely. Might buy a steam cleaner - which one do you have?

GP wasn't 100% sure - so I got anti-virals and I am going to continue to check the bed and get one of those mattress things anyway - I do feel we are high risk of getting bed bugs given how often dh stays in hotels.

saffy1234 · 08/05/2019 07:53

Glad to hear you have antivirals
And i hope you feel better soon xx

Parmavioletgin1 · 08/05/2019 08:10

Just this one, it's also often on offer at £49.
It is both a floor steamer and a hand held. (it's also great for the sofa and car cleaning - I got a bit paranoid about bugs & went on a steaming frenzy 😂

Mmm - maybe shingles - I'm so bloody cold I've had to put my coat on, a scarf, thermals and 2 wool blankets and it's 23C and I can't get warm.

All things considered I would prefer singles to bedbugs ☺️
Get well soon!

Parmavioletgin1 · 08/05/2019 21:45

Shingles not singles 🥴

Bestfootforward1 · 08/05/2019 21:56

Looks like fleas or midgie bites._

rotrue · 09/05/2019 00:04

@Parmavioletgin1 I agree - it’s a weird thing to be hoping to have shingles 😂
