Name changed for this and posting for traffic as currently a bit terrified.

I’ve had a sore nipple for a few days now, I breastfeed my toddler so thought perhaps mastitis but it’s only in the nipple nowhere else. I’ve looked it up online as the nipple is also inverting slightly which has never happened before - apparently this can be an early sign of cancer Sad has anyone experienced anything similar? I’m going to go to the doctor tomorrow but could do with some others experience.

Thanks

I haven’t had the inversion, but all sorts of weird nipple stuff happened over the years i BFd my two. I wouldn’t leap to cancer as a thought tbh, it could be that your child’s latch has changed due to movement of teeth/molar development etc, and perhaps caused inflammation etc.
Always wise to get any breast weirdness checked out ASAP, so well done for booking in straight away. Our boobs do go through the mill with feeding, so do keep a close eye on any changes, it’s only sensible, but please don’t worry yourself - it’s more likely something else.
Hope you get the all clear tomorrow and it’s all healed up soon.

Have you had antibiotics recently?

I have thrush on my nipple and it's sore and it hurts.

It's because I had AB's so the baby got thrush in his mouth and now I have it.

Thanks @AndOutComeTheBoobs - is it only on one side? I saw it’s rare to only be on the one side. I haven’t had antibiotics recently but have been run down so perhaps that could have caused a decrease in good bacteria 🤷‍♀️

Don't jump to anything cancer is one of a huge list of things it could be!

Just think as far as something odd is going on so I'll pop to the gp and get myself checked anything after that will happen the way it does so there is no point wasting valuable energy and headspace on it! you just focus on the bit you have responsibility/control over, picking up the phone and making the appointment!

The likelihood is it's just something simple but if it's not you will face it because you you just will.
