"The people of Sussex are celebrating Meghan and Harry's baby" said BBC South East

Fuck off are they, most of them are probably thinking, hmmm vaguely interesting, rich couple have baby.

OP posts:
Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/05/2019 07:42

I basically get pissed off when the media make obviously stupid sweeping generalisations about anything like this

And politicians...pisses me off when they do it as well

The op is about 'the people of sussex' and for that they are not being unreasonable

AlaskanOilBaron · 07/05/2019 07:43

I'm always happy for people when they have a baby, particularly a first, but the modern news cycle is farcical. I'd love to not hear another word about it.

Dana28 · 07/05/2019 07:45

A royal family has no place in a modern meritocratic democracy. The French had the right idea!

EleanorReally · 07/05/2019 07:47

The people of Sussex are celebrating? That would be a first

longearedbat · 07/05/2019 07:51

The only thing that makes me cringe about royal family stories on the tv is Nicholas Witchell popping up with his oily, obsequeous comments.

Dahlietta · 07/05/2019 07:51

Normal manners to welcome a baby? I don’t remember the BBC and the people of Sussex welcoming mine - and he was born there! 😁

JudgeRindersMinder · 07/05/2019 07:51

Did you lot get out of the wrong side of bed today?

RozHuntleysStump · 07/05/2019 07:52

It’s another reason to avoid the news. Not saying it shouldn’t be on there but they will be going on about it far too much. What is there to say?

JacquesHammer · 07/05/2019 07:53

Lovely, baby, how nice, but I dont want the BBC telling me that I am celebrating

Why Confused I mean you know you’re not celebrating. Does it really matter?!

JQBased · 07/05/2019 07:58

They have nothing better to do?

bamboofibre · 07/05/2019 08:00

Personally, I feel revulsion at all of this sycophantic bowing and scraping

Yep!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/05/2019 08:02

Did you lot get out of the wrong side of bed today?

What because i dont like the media making sweeping statements?

Not that its got anything to do with the thread but i think its lovely that there is a new baby, harry was very sweet in his announcement and I personally dont have a problem with the royal family or the news reporting on it

I just get pissed with the 'the whole world is watching' type comments which was said at the wedding

When quite obviously the whole world isn't watching

ReanimatedSGB · 07/05/2019 08:04

Most of Sussex was celebrating Jack In The Green yesterday. No mention made of any babies being born.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 07/05/2019 09:38

As always it's the fans who are getting themselves in a froth about people expressing a lack of interest and posting somewhat hysterically.

Personally I was delighted to see Harry so happy, but no more than any new parent. I'm not 'celebrating'. I also think the BBC have been trying to whip us up into a frenzy since the birth and apart from a couple of loons with balloons, most people seem pretty sane and sanguine about the news.

So I agree with you, OP.

JacquesHammer · 07/05/2019 09:54

I’m not a fan.

However when I have a lack of interest in something I accomplish this by not giving it any headspace, rather than posting to inform people just HOW disinterested I am.

CurtainsOpen · 07/05/2019 09:57

"Lots of people don't give a fuck but won't stop going on about how little of a fuck they give" isn't really something I'd expect to see the BBC use as a headline though.

AlaskanOilBaron · 07/05/2019 09:57

It's everywhere. Hard to not give it headspace.

I just drove for a half-hour and heard about it 5x or so.

JacquesHammer · 07/05/2019 09:58

It’s not though. Choose to listen to music not radio for example.

Use the news apps/sites and click on stories that interest you.

AlaskanOilBaron · 07/05/2019 10:00

I like listening to the news.

JacquesHammer · 07/05/2019 10:14

I like listening to the news

Yeah but unfortunately the news covers everybody and not just your likes Grin

So you either acknowledge and zone out when aspects don’t interest you or simply make another choice.

It’s far easier than getting riled by it.

HomeMadeMadness · 07/05/2019 10:17

I think perhaps some people need to be a little less literal. No one is suggesting that everyone (or even the majority of the people) of sussex are celebrating. It's like when people say "everyone's watching game of thrones" they don't mean literally everyone. There are inevitably going to be some news that isn't interesting (e.g. football) that you just ignore.

missfliss · 07/05/2019 10:19

Another person of Sussex here.

It's nice mildly interesting news.

Otherwise, approx number of fucks given = minimal

FenellaMaxwell · 07/05/2019 10:19

The people of Sussex seem to largely give zero fucks here in Brighton....

Daenerys77 · 07/05/2019 10:19

I wonder if Meghan and Harry have ever been to Sussex?

longwayoff · 07/05/2019 10:20

New baby, that's nice. Is there a name the baby thread? I'm fancying HarMeg, no hyphen Smile
