A parent who takes her DCs to school and then goes home and goes to bed for most of the morning and then gets up a couple of hours before collecting the DCs and then goes to bed about the normal time for an adult.

OP posts:

Depression.

My Mum spent most of a lot of days in bed when I was a teenager - she was eventually hospitalised for a long time with what I only later realised was severe depression.

AriadnePersephoneCloud · 06/05/2019 22:11

I wish I could do this but even when I'm ill I feel like I have to do something. If its not work its house work. I think I'd be better off physically and mentally if I could stay in bed some days... Maybe not all days though 😁

PerfectPenquins · 06/05/2019 22:11

I wouldn't really think anything, it's not affecting the kids at all so if that's what the person needs then that's what they need.

GabsAlot · 06/05/2019 22:12

i have depression and cfs sometimes u cant even function

Absolutepowercorrupts · 06/05/2019 22:14

How bizarre, another thread that is critical about other mothers.
It will end up being very lonely on your high horse op.

FromEden · 06/05/2019 22:16

I do this and I'm not depressed or anything like that. I just love sleep and always have. Pre having a child I would stay in bed until the afternoon if I didn't have to be anywhere

I drop off DD, go for a walk or workout, then eat breakfast and go for a nap for an hour or two. Sometimes I go straight for a nap.

iklboo · 06/05/2019 22:19

Is this you OP?

whatwouldbigfatfannydo · 06/05/2019 22:19

I have Fibromyalgia and multiple other chronic illnesses that cause severe fatigue (to the point where just tackling a bath will ensure I'm in bed for the next 24 hours). At 24, I can safely say this is NOT where I want to spend my days and my life is passing me back. Not everyone like this is lucky, lazy or happy with spending so much time in bed. Can't speak for anyone but myself obviously but I would much prefer my health back over relying on so much rest and sleep just to get through the day. Hope person in OP's post is alright...

GoodPlaceJanet · 06/05/2019 22:20

@Absolutepowercorrupts OP could be talking about herself and asking for perspective. Makes your post ironic no?

StuckInsideAnEcho · 06/05/2019 22:20

This is me, OP. Except if I get up a few hours before pick up and not 3/4 - 1/2 hour before pick up for a quick shower and to get dressed, then I consider myself very lucky.

I have CFS/M.E, Fibromyalgia, Endometriosis, PTSD, ADHD, ASD, Anxiety, OCD, Depression, Sensory Issues, wear hearing aids.....

Being alive is fucking exhausting and I'd do anything except give up my family in order to function properly. A second wage would be fantastic for us.

So what's your aibu, OP? Jealous? It's nothing to be jealous for. People need to remember to watch what you wish for......

CurtainsAndCords · 06/05/2019 22:20

This is you op isn't it?

What's happening?

DharmaInitiativeLady · 06/05/2019 22:21

Sounds like my dream of a life

Still18atheart · 06/05/2019 22:23

Depression, on a night shift or have a lo who has kept them up half the night

Ohyesiam · 06/05/2019 22:25

When this happened with my flat mate it turned out to be hepatitis

DragonMamma · 06/05/2019 22:26

Every day? I’d think there was something wrong, either physically or mentally.

Occasionally? Lucky them!

lauryloo · 06/05/2019 22:31

I do this some days.

I'm depressed

bebeboeuf · 06/05/2019 22:31

I would if I could

Theweasleytwins · 06/05/2019 22:31

Wow so much sleepShock
I would love more sleep (slight depression and anxiety mixed with 3 dc)

aibutohavethisusername · 06/05/2019 22:36

I used to do this a lot. MH issues.

applesarerroundandshiny · 06/05/2019 22:36

If it was regular I would think that they were unwell. Could be mental, could be physical.

jackio2205 · 06/05/2019 22:37

Dare i say.... why do you care?
Not in a rude way, just don't get why you'd give it a second thought? X

ATowelAndAPotato · 06/05/2019 22:38

Sounds like me at the moment, I am off to the GP this week to get my thyroid checked!

emotionalaffair · 06/05/2019 22:40

I would assume they had an illness of some sort.

emotionalaffair · 06/05/2019 22:41

And I would be concerned for them.

LillithsFamiliar · 06/05/2019 22:43

My first thought would be 'how and why do I know so much about what another parent does during the day?'
My next thought would be that they must have a chronic illness, anaemia or depression. But I'd think it was more likely the first two because depression doesn't usually allow you time off for school runs.
