To ask if it's possible to eat too many apples?

I haven't really had many cravings this pregnancy but all of a sudden since about 30 weeks I can't stop eating apples / drinking apple juice. I must have eaten 4/5 apples so far today.

Is eating too many apples regularly bad for you? I know they're high in Pectin so
I guess could cause a tummy upset.

If you eat to many you'll get tummy ache. Then you'll stop.

tinyme77 · 06/05/2019 20:52

Not medical opinion but that is a lot of sugar if you drink lots of juice.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2019 20:54

I get tummy ache and trapped wind if I eat more than 2 apples in a day. Within 12 hours.
You'll soon find out if it affects you OP!

Yes they are quite acidic and more than 2/3 in one day could make you sick

Bugger I'll cut back then Grin

I don't think the enamel on your teeth will like it much either.

I used to eat a lot of apples as a child. Mum once told me to never eat the seeds and I convinced myself this was because if you swallowed a seed, an apple tree would grow in your stomach and your feet would take root and the branches would grow out of your mouth. It put me right off!

(Disclaimer: I was about six when this worked for me)

I had cravings for apple juice and apples when pregnant with DS1. Found out it was a mistake after it ruined my teeth. I now have tiny holes in front teeth. Dentist said it was only because I have such good teeth that damage wasn’t worse

The high sugar intake will make you higher risk for GD.

Also the acid not good for teeth/gums/throat/stomach

Can induce vitamin reaction

Everything in moderation even in pregnancy.

So weird because before I was pregnant, I probably hadn't eaten an apple since I was a child. I got such a craving for fruit and now I start every day with an apple (and maybe some mango/pineapple, but always apple). I can't imagine not now.

Weird because I googled it thinking I was missing a particular vitamin, but they're not even that high in nutritional value.
