To all how much weight you gained during pregnancy?

It's not really unreasonable, more nosey.

I'm 29 +4 and have only gained half a stone on my pre-pregnancy weight. Approx 1 stone in total as I lost half a stone in the first trimester with morning sickness.

I'm starting to feel unnerved with this weight gain as even though my midwife said everything is on track, quite a few people have commented on how small I still am for how far gone I am.

So just to calm my crazy hormones a bit, can I asked what you gained in your first pregnancy?

1st 7 with my 1st , 6lb 14 oz
1st 2 with my 2nd, 7lb 5 oz

I was worried about my weight as well with my second towards the end and my midwife wasn’t worried. My doula agreed and said she was the same with her second and third.

Took me a few weeks to be back at my original weight with the first and left the hospital at my original weight with my second. I exercised more during the second, was chasing a toddler, and craved salmon and veg for the most part. Also, it helped that my youngest was an October baby vs a Jan baby like my oldest so I was able to be out more without worrying about ice.

6 stone. Although did have pre eclampsia and 2.5 stone left when DS was born

I ate everything in sight and thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

I'm 32 weeks and up 21lbs so far. Expecting to hit 2 stone before baby is here.

Tunnocks34 · 06/05/2019 22:21

Well I am 25 weeks now, and I think I’ve gained about a stone and a half.

I was under weight before falling pregnant, or at least only in the healthy category by 1lb. I expect I’ll probably put on another half a stone to a stone in the next 12 weeks.

whitehalleve · 06/05/2019 22:24

2stone

I was told the average person should gain 2 stone. An underweight person should gain more. An overweight person should gain less.

AhhhHereItGoes · 06/05/2019 22:26

I gained around a stone each time.
But was already overweight so that seemed a fair enough amount.
Weighed less two days post birth than at 14 weeks Smile

kelly14 · 06/05/2019 22:29

Only gained 10lb with my now 1 year old. Didn’t show till gone 22 weeks ish.
I’m 16 weeks now and have put on 3lb and definitely carrying bigger.
I hope To not put on more than a stone.

leomama81 · 06/05/2019 22:30

This is quite reassuring - I have put on a lot in my first trimester! 😂 can't believe the advice that you are supposed to put on a couple of pounds in the first , I mean perhaps on each boob...

I have been absolutely ravenous for carbs, but it is getting a little better now so am hoping I might even out...

cadburyegg · 06/05/2019 22:31

2 stone with DS1 and just over that with DS2. Although I hadn’t lost all of it before getting pregnant with DS2 so I was much fatter second time round. DS2 is now 14 months and I’m now below what I was before I got pregnant with him but the last few lbs that I never lost after DS1 is proving harder to shift!

SpeedyBojangles · 06/05/2019 22:32

Pregnancy 1: 4 stone
Pregnancy 2: 1.5 stone (but still had an extra stone from last time)

Lost it all and went back to pre pregnancy weight until...

Pregnancy 3: 5 stone!!!! He's now 6 months and I've lost 2.5 stone so far, but it's hard work.

Strokethefurrywall · 06/05/2019 22:33

20lbs with both babies, had lost all but 2-3lbs within a week of giving birth.
But with DS2 I decided that Cadbury mini eggs were the best breastfeeding food (and it was Easter after all), so found myself gaining 10lbs after the fact!

I had small bumps too and small babies despite being 5ft 8" - we just breed them small!

cadburyegg · 06/05/2019 22:33

Oh I think it is common/normal not to put much weight on until the 3rd trimester because before that the baby is developing very quickly but doesn’t weigh a great deal. It’s the 3rd trimester where the baby starts gaining weight quickest I think.

Also normal to gain a lot of weight in the first trimester if you’re like me and had to eat every couple of hours to stave off the nausea pangs. Blush

CurtainsAndCords · 06/05/2019 22:35

5 stone.

I don't recommend it. Took ages to recover.

C0untDucku1a · 06/05/2019 22:37

Almost Three stone with both pregnancies. I never over eat and i do have a relatively healthy diet. Didn't look pregnant from the back. Went from 8 stone 3 to 11 stone with both. Came off very quickly both times within a few months. Babies were 8 and 10 pounds.

C0untDucku1a · 06/05/2019 22:39

Meant to add i bought a size 10 normal (not maternity) coat from Next that i wore in late pregnancy with no issues.

Weight gain also depends on how much you weighed to begin with.

TrixieFranklin · 06/05/2019 22:39

3 stone first time round (with twins) and just over a stone this time round (at 32 weeks)

ooooohbetty · 06/05/2019 22:40

About 3 stone both times. Lost it all afterwards by breastfeeding and walking a lot.

TattiePants · 06/05/2019 22:42

I don't remember how much for DS but probably about a stone. For DD I lost between 2.5 - 3 stones; not recommended and I only stopped being sick an hour before she was born.
