To all how much weight you gained during pregnancy?

It's not really unreasonable, more nosey.

I'm 29 +4 and have only gained half a stone on my pre-pregnancy weight. Approx 1 stone in total as I lost half a stone in the first trimester with morning sickness.

I'm starting to feel unnerved with this weight gain as even though my midwife said everything is on track, quite a few people have commented on how small I still am for how far gone I am.

So just to calm my crazy hormones a bit, can I asked what you gained in your first pregnancy?

I was 55kg before, in my due date I was 76kg and gave birth at 41 weeks. Much of it was water retention. After 4 weeks I was down to 65kg, and then walked lots and started swimming. It took 9 months both times to spring back.

primarywoodle · 06/05/2019 18:24

With dd i gained 3stone (mostly being a piggy) then within 24 hours of giving birth id lost 2 stone (mostly water - i looked like a puffer fish in the last couple of weeks!) And a week later id lost another 1/2 stone through breastfeeding!!

Quickest weightloss ever

RChick · 06/05/2019 18:24

5st with no1, but came off in 4 months. This time i am avoiding the scales.

IntoValhalla · 06/05/2019 18:26

With DC1, I had the most hideous hyperemesis Sad honestly felt like I was going to die. I lost weight through my first and second trimesters. I was weighed on my way into delivery the morning DC1 was born, and I’d only gained 10lbs on top of my weight at my booking appointment Sad DC1 was 6lbs 12oz of that weight. I was so incredibly poorly though, it’s not really surprising!
DC2, I think I gained about 2 stone - not really sure! I was weighed at booking and then once towards the end and from what I remember it was about that - in the realm of “normal” apparently - whatever normal is!
I’ve not got a clue how much weight I’ve gained this time around! I was 54kg at booking, and I’m now 20+5. I reckon my enormous boobs weigh 2 stone on their own Blush

Gin96 · 06/05/2019 18:27

2st with both pregnancies, first baby was 10lb, second 9.10, I was back to pre pregnancy weight in 8 weeks with first, second took me a year but I was14 years older

17CherryTreeLane · 06/05/2019 18:29

Just under 2 stone for each pregnancy (2). I was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans within 10 days, so I'm assuming a lot was water or something!

SrSteveOskowski · 06/05/2019 18:29

@shinythemom, 160 pounds? That's about 11.5 stone. Really? Shock

Shelbybear · 06/05/2019 18:30

By 20wks I had put on only 3 pounds and by 30 wks it was about 1 stone.

I started at 7st 12 and just before delivery at 41 weeks, weighed myself to see a 10 on the scales I cldnt believe it 😮😳 so was just over 2 stone gain for me and everyone kept telling me how neat my bump was 😂 obv not that neat!

Baby was 8lb.

OddestSock · 06/05/2019 18:30

I was overweight before I got pregnant both times. First pregnancy I gained 1.5 stone, baby was 7lb 1oz, second pregnancy I gained 9lb (I was sick all the time), baby was 8lb 4oz. Both times I came he from hospital I was below my pre-pregnancy weight

outvoid · 06/05/2019 18:30

Four stone with my first! I ate what I wanted and didn’t exercise very much during the last trimester as it was during the 2009/2010 hideous winter when swine flu was rampant.

Two stone with subsequent pregnancies which is about right. I think they say anything between 14 and 28 lbs is ‘normal’ so you do sound on track.

abcriskringle · 06/05/2019 18:40

I didn't really pay much attention to my weight in my first pregnancy, however after having him I was 2 stone overweight so I guess I put on a bit more than that. I am now 16weeks with my second and have gained 4lbs although I've not been eating loads (morning sickness) and am quite bloated. I'm going to try not to put on an excessive amount as I started off overweight and if I gain another 2 stone I'll be obese. I know a few people who actually lost weight during pregnancy and their babies were perfectly healthy. I wouldn't worry too much.

mummyofdaughters · 06/05/2019 18:41

DD1 9kg
DD2 11kg

firstimemamma · 06/05/2019 18:45

3 stone in total (9 to 12 stone). The first trimester was crazy - I'd put on a whole stone by the time I was 10 weeks pregnant as I was always eating!

Lost most of the weight by 4 months post partum and all of it by 6 months.

Enidthecat · 06/05/2019 18:45

3 stone with my son who was nearly 10lb. Lost it quite quickly through walking with buggy plus he had a voracious appetite and I bf so it felt like everything I ate went into him!

I'm 36 weeks pregnant now and I've gained nearly 4 stone, due to sugar cravings plus I've been on steroids due to recurrent miscarriage. I'm hoping I can lose it again as I feel rubbish about myself!

Everyone is different. As long as your midwife isn't concerned and baby's growing try not to worry or compare yourself.

Mondayblues7 · 06/05/2019 18:46

Original weight 7st 12. 24 weeks pregnant and have gained 7lb. Managing to go to the gym three times a week still and trying to be good with what I eat now as no longer have sickness. Salad or veg with every evening meal and no carbs. (this was my diet pre pregnancy)

I eat carbs at lunch and and have cereal for breakfast.

Dreading putting on masses as am only 5ft 1. !

Stabbitha · 06/05/2019 18:46

Nothing. Severe HG. With DD1 I weighed 10.5st at the start. 7.5st after the birth... got back up to 8st... got pregnant with DD2... maintained 8st throughout, 7.5st again after birth. I'm 8st again now and sterilized. I can't lose any more and I'm struggling to gain.

BillywigSting · 06/05/2019 18:50

I lost two stone but only because I couldn't smell food without puking never mind actually eating anything.

1/10. Would not recommend. I was bloody hungry too. Nausea and hunger together is decidedly unpleasant.

Fiveredbricks · 06/05/2019 18:50

None. I lost three stone, felt the best I've ever felt in my life. It appears my thyroid somehow randomly regulated at the time, I got pregnant and it all melted away during pregnancy.

All went tits up after though 😁

Enidthecat · 06/05/2019 18:50

Meant to say that I've had growth scan and this is another big baby, weighing nearly 7lb at 36 weeks

Figgygal · 06/05/2019 18:52

3.5 stone both times
1st pg off within 6 months
Pg2 off within 9 months

I enjoyed my pregnancies lol

SisyphusHadItEasy · 06/05/2019 19:05

With my first, I was obese when I became pregnant, and had severe hyperemesis throughout the pregnancy - was hospitalised several times.

The day I went in to deliver her, I weighed 2 stone less than I did when I got pregnant.

I do not recommend this weight loss plan.

emwithme · 06/05/2019 19:19

3 stone. At one point I thought she'd come out looking like Mayor McCheese.

DD is now 5 months old and I have 8 lbs to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

SignOnTheWindow · 06/05/2019 19:19

If you've been told everything's ok, try not to worry.

1st pregnancy, I gained just over a stone. 2nd pregnancy only 11 pounds.

DD1 was 8lb 7, DD2 was 8lb 3, and both were remarkably healthy.

Baloonphobia · 06/05/2019 19:23

My mother actually lost weight during her pregnancy with me. Her sickness was so severe she had to be induced very early.
I put on 4 stone in mine, 2 this time.

Schnitzelvonkrumb · 06/05/2019 19:24

1st DC about 21lb (baby weighed 7lb 12oz) I had a mahoosive bump towards the end and I am quite petite (under 5ft). 2nd DC I put on about 13 lb, I put on weight more quickly but then only 3lb in last 10 weeks of pregnancy and people commented I was quite small (baby was 7lb 4oz)
