To ask why people face their babies out in carriers

When all the research points to inward facing being the optimum position from a physical and cognitive development POV.

And why do so many that do outward face try to justify it by saying that their babies are 'bored' and 'want to see the world' when their babies are a) incapable of communicating that b) unlikely to communicate that even if they could.

So no evidence based research then..a few blogs and links. Cool 👌🏻

Was that aimed at me, @lovealookabout? I’m not the OP. I don’t subscribe to her view. Some posters up thread asked for additional information and I posted a couple of links. I made no claims about them.

I'm thinking I must be the devil incarnate as I gave up on the sling by well before 6 months with both my big babies, and then they went in an outward facing Maclaren pushchair. AND they were weaned at 4 months. I guess I'm just lucky that they've made it to their late teens with no attachment, health or food issues.

No it wasn’t you :-)
Just looked am familiar with those ones. DD had left hip dysplasia. I didn’t think your posting on them was a reply to me asking either. I’m a sucker for only reading OP replies so hadn’t seen yours

Sorry for jumping on the defensive @lovealookabout Flowers

I am nerdily very interested in the article looking at the correlation between universal back carrying in Malawi and almost zero incidence of hip dysplasia.

lovealookabout · 09/05/2019 12:58

Mine was hip dysplasia from childbirth not carrying, all resolves with double nappies.
No offence taken @thanksithascrumpets

"jamoncrumpets

When I see baby's dangling outwards in Baby Bjorn's I cringe every single time. And if that makes me awfully judgemental then so be it. I'm thinking of misaligned spines and poor tiny genitals being crushed."

Well at least you know and own that you're an awful person. It's something... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe because some are designed so that you can?Hmm

Not sure why you care either
