To ask what on earth this is and what is it for? And more importantly how did it get in my house

I found this (see pics) in my bedroom. I assumed it was DP's and so eventually, after messing about with it and trying to open it etc, asked what it was for only to discover that my DP thought it was mine and also was wondering what it was! My children also have no idea what it is and have never seen it before. What is it? What is it for and how did it get into my bedroom without any help from anyone in the house!!

How big is it? It looks like a Tetris piece from a child's toy. Do they have any puzzles like
that?

GilmoreMe · 05/05/2019 18:08

It looks like a piece from one of those cube puzzles where you have to fit all the random shapes back into a cube

TheQueef · 05/05/2019 18:09

That looks like the packers/spacers used when I had new windows.
All the windows still in?

MountainEagle · 05/05/2019 18:09

Yes it looks like a puzzle piece. DC has one with all the letters of the alphabet.

Omahasomewhereinmiddleamerica · 05/05/2019 18:12

My DC are all too old for puzzle things. It is 2 and a half inches long, and an inch high (approx). If it was a piece from a puzzle one of us would recognise it. All the windows are still in (and I hope they stay there!)

Could it have been there since before you moved in? I decorated DC’s nursery after living in my house for 3 years and found a doll behind the radiator!

Omahasomewhereinmiddleamerica · 05/05/2019 18:17

Nope, we have been here 12 years and it just appeared on the dressing table

I had that puzzle back in the 80's.Had to put them all together to fit inside a clear plastic cube.

SoupDragon · 05/05/2019 18:20

It looks exactly like a piece from a Tetris Cube puzzle.

JamB4cream · 05/05/2019 18:23

I would say a bit of packaging from inside a box to stop something rattling around.

Have you opened something new recently? New hairdryer, straightners, TV, shaver, picture frame?

Omahasomewhereinmiddleamerica · 05/05/2019 18:55

No, nothing new purchased but I feel like we would remember buying and unpacking something with bright orange packaging

Reminds me of the corner protectors that come with pictures and picture frames to stop them getting damaged

Or you have a ghost

Dumplingfan · 05/05/2019 19:14

Do you have a cleaner?

Macandcheese05 · 05/05/2019 19:39

mcdonalds had something similar to this a few months ago. every toy had one of these puzzle platforms and a toy that balanced on it. could it be this?

Omahasomewhereinmiddleamerica · 05/05/2019 20:03

No cleaner and no McDonald's toys (my DC all eat adult meals). Must be a ghost
