We have been 'given' £600 by a property company, in exchange for them putting an advertising post in our front garden for a few months.

DP wants to use it all as a mortgage overpayment, but I would rather treat ourselves for once, as we're already overpaying around £400 every month. AIBU?

Half to mortgage, half for a treat.

If you're overpaying so much already then you should definitely use it for a treat!

I’m with you given you’re already overpaying! Maybe you could suggest splitting the money 50:50 and if DH wants to put his towards the mortgage he’s welcome to?!

Would depend on my financial situation tbh . When you say treat are you going to blow it in a meal out or something which will last ? Eg Contribution to holiday / spending money ?? I wouldn’t want to fritter away £600 and have nothing to show for it .
