UTI referral...

Posting for traffic as my appointment is at 9.40!

I have recurrent UTI's and have a hospital referral at the Urology Clinic today.

What will happen today? Will I be examined? I am in almost constant pain so I am already tensing up and worrying about what will happen!

Thanks for any reponses in advance!

They’ll probably take some history and order relevant examinations and tests.

Be strong. It’s a positive step.

Thank you, I have been waiting a long 5 months for this and now it's here I am getting all anxious about it.

It took so long for my doctor to take me seriously, so I am hoping it is a step in the right direction.

This was me 5 years ago, they gave me a cystoscopy and I was sent for urgent surgery had my pre op same day and surgery 2 weeks later! I had my surgery 2 weeks later.
-urethral dilation
-bladder distension
Touch wood haven’t had a UTI since. They did say it could go back if I were to be pregnant soon after but had DS in 2017 and still fine! Glad you have been referred I was given 11 consecutive courses of antibiotics before they referred me!

Thank you tmh88 - did the cystoscopy hurt? I am dreading it setting off another flare up!

From what I remember they numb down there first and then you get to see it on a screen also, it is very interesting! Didn’t feel pain but think I remember feeling the sensation of it moving etc!

If you get no joy I suggest you google Professor James Malone-Lee. Interesting information on persistent UTIs. He appears to be the world’s expert. But I hope you get some help and treatment at the urology centre.
