“Best”

AIBU to not understand or even like when people end a letter or email with just “Best”? Why not add a simple “wishes” after it? Or just say “yours sincerely”, or a good old “regards”?

Just stop.

Yes, I find that a bit annoying too.

HBStowe · 02/05/2019 12:43

I have a hierarchy, as follows:

Best regards - you are a delight, emailing you is an active pleasure to me

Kind regards - all is well with our professional relationship

Regards - I hope you spend an eternity tormented by the sulphurous fires of hell

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/05/2019 12:43

Or kind regards (passive aggressive regards)

We used to have a manager who would just sign KR instead of kind regards, and her initials were ABS so she signed off emails with
KR ABS - we all used to call her crabs!

ScrewyMcScrewup · 02/05/2019 12:43

I had ' All best' recently.

I don't care.

Whoops x - posted with HBS above!
Maybe the kindness of the regards depends on whether the person is actually kind? This manager was horrible!

EssentialHummus · 02/05/2019 12:45

It’s “I am, etc” here.

theWarOnPeace · 02/05/2019 12:49

All best is the weirdest and the worst. It just jars in my mind. Idiots that sign off KR get barely any energy from me. Lazy fuckers.

PiggoSuperstar · 02/05/2019 12:50

I agree...Regards is quite aggressive. I do sign off with that when I’ve been pissed off! Grin
