To not go to the baby shower, even though I said I would.

Dps best mate and his wife are due in the summer. His mates sis organised a baby shower for the expectant mother at a local club. Lots of people going.
I said I'd go despite not liking this sort of things and also not knowing anyone there apart from the mum to be. But I'd seen a few people at a previous event.. This is huge for me as I struggle with social anxiety but had been telling myself it'll be OK and I'd drive so I can leave when wanted rather than dp dropping and collecting me.

After accepting the invite, purchasing gift etc. I discovered I was pregnant. However a week later I MC. this was less than 2 weeks ago.
The shower is on Saturday and I just can't face it.
I feel awful for now not wanting to go. And what would I even give as a reason as don't want to say the real one. There will still be lots of people there.
I know they've organised food etc and personalised games
Its all Organised on a WhatsApp group chat.
What do I do.?
I'd give the gift still when we see them

I think it’s fine to pull out and just feign illness.

So sorry about your MC OP Flowers

I think in your circumstances I would say you've come down with something the night before or morning of. Be kind to yourself, I totally understand your reasons. Flowers

Firstly I am sorry for your loss Flowers

Don't give this another thought, first thing Saturday send a message "Uh I have come down with the most awful tummy bug, I'll have you the details and the germs! Have a lovely day, I'll arrange with dp to get the gift to you as soon as I am feeling better. Have fun x"

FadedRed · 01/05/2019 22:00

Sorry, just ring/text on the day and say you have a tummy bug and don’t want to risk passing it on.

CalmdownJanet · 01/05/2019 22:01

*Save you the details

Tightarseparent1 · 01/05/2019 22:02
