I love Kirstie Allsop but...

Let me just put this out there I love Kirstie and I find her very entertaining however, I am watching the latest episode of LLL and Kirstie goes in to a monologue about herself, and how her job is such a huge responsibility... AIBU to think Kirstie is being a bit OTT here? You show people houses, you're not on Surgeons: At the Edge of Life performing brain surgery on a patient who's awake!

She is a smug pita, can’t stand her.

I like Kirsty, & Phil and I particularly like them together. I like their innuendo, their humour and everything about them. She sometimes makes me shake my head, but a lot less than most people do.

There are a million other channels for people who don’t 😂

Tavannach · 02/05/2019 23:32

Really dislike her. She's so entitled.

I’m a nurse and recently was doing a procedure, pt awake, all chatting, surgeon chatting away too. Afterwards, when pt was gone surgeon was laughing going “can’t believe that guy thinks his job was stressful. He was a bloody accountant! Stress is lying awake all night wondering if the patient will pull through, if you messed up, if you nicked something during surgery, perforated a bowel during a scope...he doesn’t know what worry is!” Was a fair point. Do accountants have the same level of worry over the accounts at Mary’s Boutique or whatever?

How fucking rude & dismissive. If you’re going to take the piss out of people when they leave, don’t have personal conversations with them, I’m disgusted a surgeon did that. People TRUST them & you, they don’t expect you to then laugh behind their backs at them when they share their worries with you.

The old joke really is true...

What’s the difference between God & a surgeon? God doesn’t think he’s a surgeon.

I’m an accountant. Yep, I know most people think that’s as boring as fuck but 🤷🏻‍♀️

When a lot of peoples jobs rely on you doing yours well, yes, it can be very stressful. A good/bad decision can change the future for a lot of people. When you are the one having to tell people they’re being made redundant or advise a plant has to be closed down. Yes, it’s every bit as fucking stressful as being a surgeon operating on one person at one time.

Mary’s Boutique indeed 🤬

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 03/05/2019 00:12

Yes Just I’m not an accountant but understand it is very stressful, they can be the difference to a business succeeding or failing, would not want that responsibility myself.

sootspritez · 03/05/2019 00:32

She's a vile, odious, out of touch Tory.

Put her in the bin.

Ucouldntmakeitup · 03/05/2019 06:27

I can see the divorced woman needed some support but she didn't get that. When her offer on a flat was declined, Kirsty just toddled off to the next gig. Such is the nature of LLL.

And if the surgeon lies awake all night worrying about patients, I'd suggest he doubts his own competency or needs some advice on stress management.

willsrarttomorrow very moving post and I hope life continues to get brighter for you and DD.

An actuary is someone who thought accountancy was too exciting.

That bungalow was awful for that young couple

The house they ended up buying was nicer but what was so wrong about a bungalow? I lived in bungalows from 3 to 18 and wasn't scarred by the experience. The only reason I wouldn't live in one now is because they are too expensive for what you get.

Thinking long term it's better for adults when they get too old for managing stairs

To be fair it is better for elderly people to have stairs because if they have them, they manage them. If you live in a bungalow and don't have stairs your body forgets how to manage them. Obviously a time may come when you just can't walk up them and need a stairlift or whatever but the GP who writes for the Times wrote an article recently asking elderly people not to assume bungalows/flats were better. Last year I went away with my mum for a few days (she lives in a bungalow) and she said at the beginning of the stay she found the hotel stairs quite hard work but by the end she was feeling much fitter.

I’ve gone right off her now when she suggested the couple got rid of their dog

I knew someone would mention that - in fact I expected a twitter storm about it. I thought she was quite funny when she said each leg of the dog was costing them £10k.

ssd · 03/05/2019 09:11

She's just a posh girl in bright patterns. I don't mind her but she's as close to my life as James bond is.

JeezOhGeeWhizz · 03/05/2019 09:11

A Tory who has no idea how most people have to live.

ssd · 03/05/2019 09:12

But I think the criticism of her weight here is appalling.

Janedoughnut · 03/05/2019 10:36

ssd I agree. Referring to someone as a'fat lump' is nasty.

beanaseireann · 03/05/2019 14:16

BettyBooJustDointheDoo
When she advised them to get rid of the dog ( I presume she was saying it tongue in cheek) I thought there'll be murder on Mumsnet over that remark. Smile
Kirsties "engagement" ring is huge Shock
Personally if I had two children with a man I'd like to be married to him. Legally, where I live, it gives better security re finances etc.

I like Location Location.
I hope it's not pulled.
I would prefer a very small house to a flat with no outside space.
