I love Kirstie Allsop but...

Let me just put this out there I love Kirstie and I find her very entertaining however, I am watching the latest episode of LLL and Kirstie goes in to a monologue about herself, and how her job is such a huge responsibility... AIBU to think Kirstie is being a bit OTT here? You show people houses, you're not on Surgeons: At the Edge of Life performing brain surgery on a patient who's awake!

OP posts:
EleanorLavish · 02/05/2019 00:14

I’m a nurse and recently was doing a procedure, pt awake, all chatting, surgeon chatting away too.
Afterwards, when pt was gone surgeon was laughing going “can’t believe that guy thinks his job was stressful. He was a bloody accountant! Stress is lying awake all night wondering if the patient will pull through, if you messed up, if you nicked something during surgery, perforated a bowel during a scope...he doesn’t know what worry is!”
Was a fair point. Do accountants have the same level of worry over the accounts at Mary’s Boutique or whatever?

EleanorLavish · 02/05/2019 00:16

Enriching?
Boozing half the time, rushing assignments, zero interest in half the work-that was my degree anyway!Grin
I’d say plenty of people do a degree as a means to an end, not because it’s enriching.
You can learn how to make a tin of beans last for dinners all week working, it doesn’t have to be at uni.

CheeseFace · 02/05/2019 00:17

YABU, Kirstie is a massive self-important knobhead.

ReanimatedSGB · 02/05/2019 00:19

This is the woman who thinks smashing up other people's possessions to enforce obedience is 'good parenting', right? And that she's really brave and controversial?

1forAll74 · 02/05/2019 00:35

i kind of like Kirstie and Phil moreso, but they are just TV personalities who have made good with their personalities, and quite amusing and good they are,, So people like these type of TV know it all about houses people. And they both must know all about house prices all around the country..But they must surely both, live in the best houses ever ha ha,,

RubberTreePlant · 02/05/2019 00:36

My patience with her expired when she smashed her sons' iPads and claimed it as a great parenting victory.

RubberTreePlant · 02/05/2019 00:37

Oh sorry @ReanimatedSGB - I didn't see your already covered that.

Flower777 · 02/05/2019 00:40

I don’t like her

Ferfeckssake · 02/05/2019 00:44

I do like her dresses though.I wonder where she shops. ? And was she rather too emotionally invested in the divorced lady. I was thinking that she did OK to come out with that much cash settlement for a house after splitting from husband. ( not Kirsty).

Singlenotsingle · 02/05/2019 09:29

Don't know about the dresses. She looks like a blancmange sometimes.

Ferfeckssake · 02/05/2019 09:53

Ha! Blancmange! It is just that that I am a bit plump and busty and would like to cover it. But probably not tall enough.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 02/05/2019 18:25

I’ve gone right off her now when she suggested the couple got rid of their dog.

AGoodWench · 02/05/2019 18:30

The whole programme is pointless really.

Gwenhwyfar · 02/05/2019 18:33

"Boozing half the time, rushing assignments, zero interest in half the work-that was my degree anyway!grin"

Yes, did a lot of boozing, last-minute assignments, but the studies were quite interesting looking back.
I absolutely believe education is enriching (not necessarily in the literal sense of making money) in itself.

Reddedder · 02/05/2019 18:33

How do you know she votes Tory? If I were to say that I didn’t like someone because it was obvious they voted labour, there’d be uproar.

Gwenhwyfar · 02/05/2019 19:02

She's said she votes Tory Red.

BeardedMum · 02/05/2019 19:10

I like the programme and k&p’s tv personalities.it relaxes me and helps me switch off from my very responsible job😉

jemihap · 02/05/2019 19:13

Her ''job'' as far as I can see, seems to involve ramping up the housing market and encouraging people to take on ever more mortgage debt.

Sweetpea55 · 02/05/2019 21:39

I find her a bit unnerving when she stares straight at the screen and fixes me with her boggly eye

Ucouldntmakeitup · 02/05/2019 22:25

The whole programme is pointless really

Grin I know! Why don't the househunters just go on Right Move?

willstarttomorrow · 02/05/2019 22:53

Used to love Kirsty but it has got a bit samey and her job looks pretty stress free compared to mine as a senior Child Protection worker. I would love to see her transform some of the houses I go into!

However in her defence since DH died 4 years ago making big decisions in my personal life has been really difficult, and not because he decided everything for us because he did not. The enormity of doing it by yourself, particularly when your job requires you to make massive decisions about people's lives, it is overwhelming. What people really do not get is that the tiny parts of life are so thrown out of kilter. The mornings were hell because DH was not there taking the piss of me trying to get out of the door by 8 am whilst he and DD messed around. Shopping and meal planning when someone was suddenly not there anymore, not being able to turn around to someone and laugh about what your child is doing because there is no one else who loves them the way you do any more. It has probably only been in the last year or so the DD and I have achieved some new pattern that works for us and life feels brighter.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 02/05/2019 23:09

Willstarttomorrow really sorry for your loss, I can’t even imagine what that must be like, half of us will have to face that position at some point in our lives, your post was very sobering, I hope I can be as strong as you when/if the time comes, glad to hear life is a little better for you now Flowers

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 02/05/2019 23:15

ucouldntmakeitup yes I agree! I fully understand why the recently divorced woman needed advice and guidance in her position, but the other couple I could not understand why they needed help, they just wanted a normal house close to Brighton! hardly an arduous search, I’m sure Rightmove could have done the job just as well as Phil, though I do suspect the husband was using it as a platform for his comedy career......would probably have been better on Come Dine With Me.

Bestfootforward1 · 02/05/2019 23:16

Red , shes definitely a Tory.
Wikipedia:
"2010 Allsopp was reported to be a Conservative Party supporter.[18] On Channel 4 News on 9 June 2017, it was revealed that she is.[19]".

SinisterBumFacedCat · 02/05/2019 23:18

As well as smashing up her kids iPads (which she could easily afford to replace) she also makes them fly in economy while she flies business class. Top parenting! I don’t think this program will last much longer anyway, soon they will run out of people who can actually afford a shed.
