Bf doesn't care for me

Hello, I am posting this for a friend.

I have been seeing a man for about six months now. When we are together in person he is mostly considerate. The sex is good and we get on great. There are long periods between us seeing each other and in that time we text. His texts are always about him. I can text to ask how he is, he always goes into some moan how he's not slept well and is shattered and he never, ever asks how I am. I occasionally send him little messages and pics saying I miss him but he never replies to these. Always starts the conversation about something else. It feels like he doesn't care and I've told him but then its just silence. I don't hear anything back from him. It drives me mad. Aibu?

It sounds to me like he views this as a friends with benefits situation.

Thanks for your replies which I have shown my friend and she and I agree. Its sad for her but I said to her she deserves a man who thinks the world of her.
