Yes i know its dreadful programme, and i probanly should do sometging better with my life. Mondays my day off and i quite like a slower start to the day.

But some of these "stories" can't be real can they?
This morning I was just like surely people don't actually behave like this in real lite do they?
Are these people actally auditioning for Corrie and Emerdale and these are scripts written by trainee script writers.

Or if ITV arent compicity are people doing what the trolls do on here makimg up stories for the amusement and stringimg ITV along just to get on TV? cos again these senerios can't actally be real can tjey?

Some arguments just ain't worth having!
That sort of covers the whole of the Kyle show too.

Jerry springer was on nearly 30 years ago, so jezza shouldn’t be that much of a shock still? Maybe we just didn’t think British people could be trailer trash lol

Most people don't have to live on estates where JK guest behaviour is the norm. Where conversations are mainly 'I turned round and said......, then she turned round and said.....'. People threatening to batter one another for spurious reasons. Low level crime/anti social behaviour etc.

Lack of anything productive to do, little money, very dysfunctional families all add up to wanting the few minutes of fame provided by being on the JK show.

qazxc · 30/04/2019 09:07

I remember another thread with a poster whose family were on JK more than once. She said that they had learning difficulties (ie needed an appropriate adult when being interviewed by police) so where easily goaded by the show.
The more enterprising guests can double whammy by doing JK and selling their story to a magazine (Chat, Take a break,....) for about a hundred quid.
I also don't think that the lie detector tests used on show are as accurate as they would have you believe. Possibly could be manipulated if you got a guest worked up enough.

IrmaFayLear · 30/04/2019 09:17

I don't understand appearing in Chat/Take A Break etc. Have people no shame? !

If some of the things happened to me that are in the real-life stories I would have to leave the planet, not have myself emblazoned across the front cover with "I married three paedophiles" or "I caught him dogging with my daughter's best mate" on. I'd need more than £100 to tempt me!

qazxc · 30/04/2019 09:53

IrmaFayLear I agree most people wouldn't do it in a month of sundays.
But to some, JK and the magazines offers are a big deal.
Also, and probably more importantly to some of them, somebody is listening to them/ giving them attention/ being sympathetic.
A lot of them would also not realise that what they are putting out there is messed up, to them it is their normal.

PortiaCastis · 30/04/2019 10:01

Disgusting programme leeching off people for viewing figures watched it once or twice but thought JK was an arsehole shouting his mouth off at people with learning difficulties and yes I thought a couple of participants were actors

gamerchick · 30/04/2019 10:02

I saw a long ago ex on there once (he failed the lie detector test) but he said they only went on because it was a trip away, a hotel stay and the 30 quid bar allowance each was a bonus. They're hand to mouth and can't afford holidays. This was the next best thing.

Sad really but he got mercilessly roasted on his facebook for failing the test for a while.

littlemeitslyn · 30/04/2019 10:08

Some by marriage rellies appeared. It was awful ☹️

zazasabore · 30/04/2019 10:28

Jeremy Kyle seems very pleased with himself. Why don't a couple of Oxbridge academics dressed in the obligatory track suits of course, go on the show and then take him down with his weasly little hypocritical morality acts

Yoursilentface · 30/04/2019 15:44

So according to that article the lie detector is 61% just better than tossing a coin.

I've said for ages that JK could be wrongly destroying lives based on that machines results and it seems that is. I've seen a few wear the person looks genuinely shocked that they have failed. The machine probably was wrong.

And to be fair if the machine was that good the police would use them to provide evidence of guilt.

FireUnderpants · 30/04/2019 18:55

A friends neighbor was on the show ages ago. The lady has learning difficulties and has a lot of help for her to live as independently as she can. It's awful how the producers exploit these vulnerable people.

JaneEyre07 · 30/04/2019 19:04

I've watched it a few times in open mouthed horror, but my DD used to work in local housing and said that the majority of her clients were of the same mentality. Entitled, lazy, and would start an argument in an empty room. And more chips on their shoulder than a McCain factory.

I can't believe it's still going. The ones with learning difficulties are clearly exploited and it's shameful.
