Yes i know its dreadful programme, and i probanly should do sometging better with my life. Mondays my day off and i quite like a slower start to the day.

But some of these "stories" can't be real can they?
This morning I was just like surely people don't actually behave like this in real lite do they?
Are these people actally auditioning for Corrie and Emerdale and these are scripts written by trainee script writers.

Or if ITV arent compicity are people doing what the trolls do on here makimg up stories for the amusement and stringimg ITV along just to get on TV? cos again these senerios can't actally be real can tjey?

Slight derail but this was on the waiting room TV when I was having my scan for my last baby in hospital, the theme was "my boyfriend forced me to have an abortion". I complained to the reception, hideous thing to watch when who knows what women in that waiting room were going through. . . . I used to work as a housing officer and the whole programme makes me sick, vulnerable people being exploited for entertainment, all very real I'm sure as I know how some of my tenants used to talk about their family/friends/neighbour's. Horrible

How on earth does this get shown before the watershed?

Bunbunbunny · 29/04/2019 20:18

My DH's half brother went on for a lie detector test got a 'full house' of lies, my ex sil felt it was the only way she was going to get the truth out of BIL as she was desperate for him to admit it. My SIL held herself together well, there was no shouting and she thanked him for the children and walked off stage. My SIL seemed convinced that he would pass, it was just in her head and the test would prove it.

The show runners called us before to confirm they were who they said they were and did try to dig up some dirt on both of them from us but we refused to give any details. They were picked up by a car and had to travel back together, put up in a cheap hotel with a set food budget. They wasn't given any alcohol or bar tab, might have been due to the children being with them.

My DH was livid and ashamed with his brother. He was embarrassed they went on the show as he hates it but more for the fact his DB knew he was lying and didn't just tell SIL at home instead of dragging her up to Manchester to be told on TV. He's NC now with his brother.

PositiveVibez · 29/04/2019 20:23

My sister works in a school where 2 of the mums have appeared on it. It's very real.

elliejjtiny · 29/04/2019 20:23

3 of the mum's from my dc's school have been on it. They were genuine but obviously don't know about the rest of the guests.

VioletCharlotte · 29/04/2019 20:28

It's such an awful programme isn't it? Sadly, I believe most (or all) the guests are genuine. There are numerous people like this in the town where I live which is one of the many reasons I want to move

hellenbackagen · 29/04/2019 20:34

I wonder how the staff coped with the smell of the guests I was involved in.

I had to sit near an open window and when they left the station I kept getting asked if a dog had been in.

Tbh my dog smells nicer.

Their house was dire. Fly tape hanging from ceiling with what must have been 5 years worth of dead flies. The make uo artist must have worn a
Mask.

When I went to their house I stood in door step as the smell made me ill.

They should never have been accepted on it. They've been on 3'times now. Clearly it's their annual holiday. This family are clearly below average iq and are just there to be laughed at . Sad and at the court case I was involved in the tapes on their jk were dredged up. They were victims but made to look very stupid at court due to these appearances.

Jk has had his day. He needs to go.

Madamedeluxe · 29/04/2019 20:34

I know someone who has been on it too. This was years ago and the discussion was quite civilised compared to some of them these days which are obviously stirred up for entertainment purposes but I do believe they are real people and stories (sadly.)

gubbsywubbsy · 29/04/2019 20:37

Of course it's real .. they are people with very little .. they get a over night stay on a hotel and a budget to spend on dinner etc... that's why they do it .. it's something they would never afford on their own . I find the whole thing very sad 😔

OldAndWornOut · 29/04/2019 20:40

The family I know weren't plied with drink or encouraged to behave badly. (Just as well!)
They got very little out of it.

It was a rhetorical question!

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 29/04/2019 21:44

So why tag/highlight my name

Because you highlighted the dialogue I was referring to ! Geez 🙄

Osirus · 29/04/2019 23:26

contestants...??

Is it a bloody game show now? 😂

My family (parents and siblings) are middle class but there’s stuff that’s gone on within it that could fill a whole year of shows.

I don’t find JK shocking at all; unfortunately it’s because I’ve seen it all in real life! I promise I’m an innocent bystander, but as a middle child everyone comes to me.

MooBaaLaLaLa · 29/04/2019 23:58

I used to live somewhere full of people like this, always threatening to "fuckin batter" each other.
I was once punched in the face by a pregnant woman who apparently thought I was laughing at something she had said to her boyfriend. I wasn't and have no idea what she was on about.

A lot of it is being unemployed with nothing better to do than create drama and try to look "hard".

I've not seen JK for many years but I recall he at least tried to tell them get a job, stop shagging around and "put something on the end of it."
Trust me, these folk need telling!

MooBaaLaLaLa · 30/04/2019 00:02

I am unemployed myself btw (health issues) and am definitely not trying to suggest that all unemployed people behave in this fashion but sadly there is a certain type for whom it's a way of life.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 30/04/2019 00:53

If you highlight/tag someone it is convension that your talking to the person that you've highlighted/tagged so to everybody it looked like you were asking me the question. JeezHmm

Exploitative tat. Not far removed from pissing on a homeless person then flinging them a quid and walking off sniggering.

DialDownTheIanPaisley · 30/04/2019 01:18

I remember one moving episode. A young couple were on, I think she had told him the baby wasn’t his and they were doing a lie detector. It turned out the baby was his, there had been no cheating on either side, essentially she was self-sabotaging and pushing him away. He wanted to be with her and wanted to be a father to their baby, he seemed sweet and genuine. I think JK was like look he loves you and the baby, you love him, don’t ruin it! I don’t know how they were allowed on really, given the usual format.

BitOfFun · 30/04/2019 01:34

This article is quite illuminating. I think the show is disgustingly exploitative.

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/04/2019 01:36

The woman who works in our local shop was on with her DD, something to do with the DD's boyfriend cheating I believe. I didnt watch it but it has been the talk of the village for years!

Where I live there is a big divide between self made millionaires and those who survive purely on benefits. There are relatively few of us in between! So you see both sides of the coin and I would happily believe that these stories are true, and actually there has been far more scandal in the monied lot, but they can afford to pay for their own DNA tests!

Snugglepumpkin · 30/04/2019 01:56

I know someone who found out his adult daughter had gone on the show.
First he knew was when his work colleagues started sniggering about it & he's still embarrassed to this day.

Also knew someone who worked with 'troubled youths' & much to his despair a number of ex clients of his went on to grab their 5 minutes of fame on the Jeremy Kyle show.
In those circles, there are some people who actually think it is something to be proud of to have been on 'Jezza'.

SinglePringle · 30/04/2019 02:05

Legally, the show is not allowed to make things up / fake things / use actors. OFCOM regulations.

ITV Productions would be heavily fined for this and the series would be quite likely to be taken off air / decommissioned (it’s what happened to The Vanessa Show back in the day).

Alicewond · 30/04/2019 02:13

A friends brother and his partner went on here, can confirm they were not just given an alcohol tab the night before, but offered cans of lager from production crew members an hour before filming. They came across as a train wreck. To be honest they accepted the alcohol gladly but it still seems exploitive for a daytime entertainment tv show
