Yes i know its dreadful programme, and i probanly should do sometging better with my life. Mondays my day off and i quite like a slower start to the day.

But some of these "stories" can't be real can they?
This morning I was just like surely people don't actually behave like this in real lite do they?
Are these people actally auditioning for Corrie and Emerdale and these are scripts written by trainee script writers.

Or if ITV arent compicity are people doing what the trolls do on here makimg up stories for the amusement and stringimg ITV along just to get on TV? cos again these senerios can't actally be real can tjey?

I was invited to go on there. I refused, but the researchers do not leave you alone. I had to threaten going to the police for them harassing me.

I've seen people I went to school with on it. I live a different life now but these things definitely happen.

I happened to put it on the other morning for a very quick view and my DC's couldn't believe people behave like that, I quickly turned it off. This is why they don't know half of their family :)

QueenOfTheEighthKingdom · 29/04/2019 18:20

Someone I used to see at a local toddler group was on there recently. I remembered her because her DC was left to run riot and bit mine and others. Obviously very vulnerable and had SS involvement which she had no problem telling everyone about.

He totally takes advantage of these types of people but he wouldn't get anyone on there or have a show at all otherwise.

DaisyDreaming · 29/04/2019 18:26

I used to be looked after a nurse who was a huge JK fan, he was her idol and she felt he helped so many people. She used to be a health visitor, I can just imagine her acting like JK

Craftylittlething · 29/04/2019 18:29

I work in an area of high deprivation, the show is real, the people and issues are real and it is very much seen as a free holiday, overnight stay in a nice hotel and plenty of free drink before the show. It makes me really sad that some lives appear to be wort so little.

Drogosnextwife · 29/04/2019 18:32

No, I genuinely know of loads of people like this IRL. Some are extended family and there friends and their lives are fucking batshit, so I do believe most of them are real.

hellenbackagen · 29/04/2019 18:40

I'm my line of work (which is hilariously similar to guest finder ) I often come across "clientele " who have been on it .

I'm a police officer 😂

ems137 · 29/04/2019 18:51

I know loads of people that would have similar stories/problems to tell on the JK show and look like the majority of his guests.

My theory (from having close family) is that when people don't work they can get far too involved in other people's business. They love the drama because they're bored, it's like a real life soap opera that they're actually living in.

Bringbackthestripes · 29/04/2019 18:59

I was once in hospital hooked to a drip just for a morning treatment. It was a ward with just half a dozen chairs and one TV, I did make a joke about the nurse changing channels so I didn’t have to watch JK but she dashed off.
I would have got up and changed it myself but I didn’t have a portable drip stand- it was torture!

DeadBod · 29/04/2019 19:00

My mum knew a few people that appeared on the show who had learning difficulties and really should have been advised not to go on Sad

Tightarseparent1 · 29/04/2019 19:01

I’ve known people that has been on. It was a real chav fest with shouting from the audience and every thing Grin

theWarOnPeace · 29/04/2019 19:02

I got up in the night the other week, ready to passive aggressively slam my window shut/or shout out to keep it down. The drunken row that these randoms were having in my Street was unreal. They both sounded thick as pig shit, and were arguing about each of their infidelities and the effect it was having on their kids and also the other people they were sleeping with’s Kids. I don’t believe for one minute either one of them actually gave a shit about the kids but was just using it in the argument. Whole thing was dreadful! Total JK types. They exist, believe me.

azulmariposa · 29/04/2019 19:04

Lol was having the same conversation with my bf the other day.
When Kilroy was on there were some actors on there, so it's probably the same on Jeremy Kyle. I think some are too over the top to be real.

Pixel99 · 29/04/2019 19:12

I'm ashamed to say but my exH is prime JK even though he come from a very well do home. He had a good up bringing in a nice home and went to university and has a professional vocation.

However he cheated on me with numerous OW (some who knew I existed but most didn't - the ones who knew were work colleagues), he stole from me and he attacked me twice.

It runs in the family as his brother cheated on his wife (and as far as I am aware the OW knew he was married as well).

Of course their Dmum thinks it was all my and ex SIL's fault that her DS's strayed on the path of marital bliss!!

daphine2004 · 29/04/2019 19:14

When I was a student I worked at a well known baby shop and was serving this woman. She was chubby and had a crop top on with her tracksuit bottoms, this was around 2006. She was so familiar and I couldn’t place her so asked if I knew her from somewhere. She replied “I’ve been on the telly”, we often got celebrities in there and footballers, so I said “oh, what are you in?” “I was on Jeremy Kyle”. I should have stopped there but I’m naturally nosey and asked what she was on there for. She answered “I’m really self conscious about my body”.

Wasn’t sure how to respond, but clearly the support she received from the show gave her confidence to become body confident.

I think they’re real.

My sister went on Judge Rinder. I was a bit 😱 and wouldn’t admit to this IRL!

LagunaBubbles · 29/04/2019 19:26

What stories don't you believe OP? You sound a bit naive.

teelldeearr · 29/04/2019 19:27

I've come across this programme in a professional capacity as some of my service users have been on it.

When you ring up to say that you want to appear the JK team move very fast to get your slot recorded before anyone finds out what you're doing.

They don't get paid but they do get expenses plus a night in a hotel. For some people that's like a luxury to them. Oh and the aftercare is pretty much non existent.

MessyMummy15 · 29/04/2019 19:34

There was an interview from a couple who attempted to go onto Jeremy Kyle a few years back who turned up well dressed in a smart suits and nice clothes.
The studio team basically told them they had to change into track suits or something to appeal to the audience and the couple refused to change clothes so they wouldn't let them on the show...
Not sure how much truth is in it but I kinda believed them.
It was in the UK papers... will try and find a link.

jackparlabane · 29/04/2019 19:35

Some mates of mine went on Kilroy years ago. There was an event in London they were desperate to go to but they couldn't afford to get there from Scotland. Kilroy paid, put them up in a hotel, and they got shouted at for an hour by a homophobic audience, which turned out to include a number of staff on the show who'd been told to be homophobes for the morning, and a bunch who appeared frequently in the audience who were filed among other things under H for Homophobe...

I wouldn't expect more recent 'reality' shows to be any more representative of reality.

Crappygilmore · 29/04/2019 19:37

My cousins ex was on Trisha back in the day. She gave him hepatitis and told everyone that she was on it for giving multiple partners sti's. Why the fuck do they still push this trash on tv I'll never know. Surely an all you can drink bar and a night in a Travelodge isnt worth the humiliation. I'd be mortified.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 29/04/2019 19:37

What stories don't you believe OP? You sound a bit naive*

This mornings first story.

Jade says "you befriended him to get get your claws in to her bloke " (ok plausable)
Savanah "oh yeah i got my claws in to him aright"
Jades best friend "he's like my brother but yeah i wanked him off"
Jeremy: wait you mastabated your best friends boyfriend who you said is like a brother?
Jades best friend "yeah and what??!!!"

Three girls veimg proud they all shagged the same bloke while threatimg to seriously damafe each other.

Ok normally i'm of the same view of most of the PP that the guests are very vunrabke people. This thread was inspired really by this mornings first part which was over egged to the extreme.

OP posts:
LagunaBubbles · 29/04/2019 19:40

Not all guests are "vulnerable" people though. The types of people you describe seeing this morning do exist.

StylishMummy · 29/04/2019 19:43

My mum is a housing support worker and confirmed a huge number of her 'service users' have applied to go on for the free dinner and night in a travelodge, they treat it like a free mini break and have a 'ryt laff' at being on the show. I think it's abhorrent

MessyMummy15 · 29/04/2019 19:44

^^ not the same interview I was talking about but similar kinda story...

Trustingmygut · 29/04/2019 19:45

I know someone who was on it, it was all true, no story writing.
