Been up since half 3, fighting nausea and sickness. Head is banging and I feel shitter than I have in a while.

But I CANNOT have a day off. Jesus.

Probably just whining here because there's no one awake to listen Grin

In the same position as u, got to be at a new job at 6... big hugs x

Ferfeckssake · 29/04/2019 05:07

I am awake.I'll listen. Nothing worse than feeling sick and know you can't stay in bed.

Pretry · 29/04/2019 05:07

Me too. Gone downstairs as can't sleep. Bloody crap

SnowsInWater · 29/04/2019 05:08

Is there anything you can take to get you through the day?

Trebla · 29/04/2019 05:09

That's awful for you. Hope you feel better soon. By why can't you have the day off?

Spaceman101 · 29/04/2019 05:13

Have a day off. Nothing worse than passing it around for every else to catch

cantpissinpeace · 29/04/2019 05:24

I don't think it's anything contagious to be honest, I think I'm just incredibly run down. I'm up so early in the week that at weekends my brain doesn't get the "you can have a lie in" memo and in any case I have young kids who wake at 6.

DocusDiplo · 29/04/2019 05:27

I am also ill and up since 3. I do not want to take a day off but genuinely unwell. Very annoying. And want a mummy to look after me. Sad Hope you feel better soon OP

cantpissinpeace · 29/04/2019 05:34

Me too Docus Sad

Best dry my hair and try to get ready Sad

FiveShelties · 29/04/2019 05:49

Why can you not take time off? Surely much better for you and your colleagues.

cantpissinpeace · 29/04/2019 05:50

Teacher. Exams Grin

Flowers its shit, I've been in a similar position ( although I could have taken time off, non crucial job. But I would have been sacked due to arsehole manager)

Di11y · 29/04/2019 06:02

well I had nausea and stomach cramps last week which I ignored. nearly shat myself. good luck and I hope you don't give it to your exam students.

FiveShelties · 29/04/2019 06:13

Are your students now taking exams or is this the preparation time that you do not want to miss. And what happens if you pass it onto them at exam time?

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 29/04/2019 06:50

Ditto. Two words-imminent ofsted.

StinkyVonWinky · 29/04/2019 06:53

I speak as a teacher here. If you ARE ill which you might well be by the sounds of it, you are going to spread those germs. To students and to other staff. Write some cover lesson plans, email it in, and go back to bed OP.

MrsMozartMkII · 29/04/2019 07:01

If it's run down as opposed to a bug, plenty of water, carbs, and the sports type rehydration things. Get a short walk in the fresh air if you can.

listsandbudgets · 29/04/2019 07:22

Please go back to bed OP. Its not great but it sounds like they re old enough to sit and revise with a cover teacher.

If I had my exams approaching I'd rather that than my teacher risking giving me a bad bug. If you're that rin down you wont teach effectively anyway

Poor you

SoyDora · 29/04/2019 07:24

If you are ill, surely your students and everyone else would rather you have a day off than make everyone else ill at exam time?

PillowTalker · 29/04/2019 07:24

But I CANNOT have a day off

Don't be such a martyr, take the day off and get better.... The world will go on without you

12pinkchairs · 29/04/2019 07:25

Also a teacher here, it's selfish to go in if you've got a potential sickness bug. You'd potentially be passing it onto students and other teachers.

No idea why that posted twice 🤦‍♀️

Halo1234 · 29/04/2019 07:32

You can go into teach. If you spread a vomiting bug at exam time it could be a nightmare. 48 hour rule. U should have stopped vomiting for 48 hours before u leave the house. So you cant go in today or tomorrow. Imagine a student got it and couldn't sit their exam. U can not possibly know if its co contagious or not. U r very selfish to go in. Trying to look like the hero teacher who goes in for exam time even though you are sick. Dont do it.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 29/04/2019 07:33

Honestly don't pass it on. One or two days of supply/cover will not affect them. I agree with emailing in a lesson plan to guide cover and get yourself well.

Parent here and really wouldn't want the teacher to drag themselves in unwell.
