To think this was selfish?

Just back in Uk after 7 hour flight. When we boarded the two women in front of us, who were in the seats by the emergency exit so no one in front of them, immediately reclined their seats and kept them reclined until just before landing. I don’t think they would have put them back to upright even then if they had not been told to. Even when a meal was served they kept their seats in recline. Am I being unreasonable?

No you are not being unreasonable, and it is selfish. But history dictates that threads on MN about this can be a bit turbulent.

For meals, they should have been asked to sit upright - or you could have asked the staff to ask them. Otherwise it's just a result of how air travel is made to be cheap enough to afford and yeah, you have to suck it up. Crap, isn't it?

Guavaf1sh · 28/04/2019 22:29

It was selfish of them for sure. Did you ask them to pull forward at all though or just suffer in silence?

SerenDippitty · 28/04/2019 22:35

No I didn’t ask. Tbh I think people who want to recline their seats should ask the people behind if they mind!

It's rubbish but part of the deal I'm afraid.

When the meal was served you could have asked them to put their seats up (or asked the crew whether they would ask) but otherwise you're stuck.

If they've booked extra legroom seats and reclined I'm guessing that it was on the basis of needing to sleep. With my kind head on I would suggest that they were on the final leg of a long or exhausting journey and maybe needed to crash for a few hours.

They had their inflight entertainment on the whole time so not sure if they were sleeping!
