Was looking on colleagues Facebook page and he had the friend request bit greyed out. I accidentally hit that button and it came up as 'You cannot add John Woodley as a friend'. Will he receive a notification that I tried adding him?

His real name isn't John Woodley by the way, just using that as an example

You don't have to be on someone's page to be able to send them a friend request.
If you go on your own profile and look at find friends, it will suggest friends of friends and show the button for you to send a request.
I also have friend suggestions bs on my timeline. As I work in a large office, they are often people from work, some of which I know, but others I don't.

I have accidentally sent a friends request to someone. Didn't know until they accepted, but it as someone I know so no harm done.

Does this all mean that you can't add him as a friend even if you wanted to?

It was in grey so I assume not. Just worried he would still get notified.
