I was at a pub quiz last night with a team of friends, some of whom I know better than others. There was the usual spiel beforehand about not googling the answers, and I nodded through it all wondering why it was necessary: we were all adults who ought to know how to play fair...
Then the quiz started. 3 questions in, and there's one we don't know. I make a mental note to keep trying to figure it out and we carry on answering the questions. A few minutes later one of my team mates has the missing answer. I ask her how she knew and she smirked and said she'd googled it. I was really shocked: I had no idea people actually would do that for the sake of an extra point. I said we weren't going to write it down because it was cheating. She gave the very clear impression that I was being stuck up and a goody two shoes and all of a sudden I felt like I was back at school and not fitting in with the cool crowd.
It's left me with a really bad feeling about her in particular, but also whether I was being too uptight. Is it normal to cheat? It's never crossed my mind and I've never been on a team where this has come up, but on this occasion she seemed certain she was in the right and didn't apologise when I said it wasn't ok.
Help. I'm overthinking it today but I need to know whether I'm being a dick, or whether she is.
