New hoover time. Are they actually any good?!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/04/2019 14:22

Not as a main hoover ime unless you have a very small area to hoover.(my experience is a Dyson )

DizzyPhillips · 28/04/2019 14:28

Oh that’s disappointing

I had a Dyson V6 and it was crap but the V10 is as good as an upright imo

Bambamber · 28/04/2019 14:30

Totally agree with pp. I have a bad back so they're perfect for me to go over the floors in between my husband using the main hoover, certainly wouldn't have one as the only hoover

LadyKylieShagworthy · 28/04/2019 14:32

I've had a cordless Dyson v10 absolute, Henry and Miele classic cylinder . The Miele is my favourite.

PrayingandHoping · 28/04/2019 14:34

Shark cordless is fantastic. I had an ordinary corded Miele before and the shark out performs it by a mile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/04/2019 14:34

My main hoover is a meile cylinder and is fantastic.

Fortheloveofscience · 28/04/2019 14:35

My main hoover is a cordless Dyson, love it.

DizzyPhillips · 28/04/2019 14:35

No idea what to go for then. Loved Vax and they were dead cheap but false economy coz lasted five mins

My dyson v8 is amazing

Beetle76 · 28/04/2019 14:39

We have a V10 and it’s perfect for us (no kids but pets; combination of carpets and Amtico). Definitely as good as our old upright Dyson but obviously more portable. My only fail is I forget to charge it! It does the whole house on one charge if I remember...

MagicKingdomDizzy · 28/04/2019 14:41

My Shark Cordless stick hoover is wonderful.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 28/04/2019 14:56

I've got a cordless vax and tbh i wouldn't recommend that brand. It picks stuff up but it hasn't got strong suction.

ReadWriteDraw · 28/04/2019 15:02

I had a Dyson stick and HATED it. It broke about a week after its warranty expired. We have a GTech now and it’s fantastic. I’m constantly amazed at how much dust and hair it collects. It’s so easy to Hoover every day and 2-3 times daily if the kids and dogs are around (I’m talking 5 min dog hair/toast crumbs whizz around not full house hoover!). Because it’s so light and easy to manage I also give it to the kids to hoover.

nanbread · 28/04/2019 15:18

The new Dyson ones (V10) are brilliant. We use that plus a robot vacuum.

ReadWriteDraw · 28/04/2019 16:02

You could buy on QVC - they have a 30 day returns policy even if you’ve used them. They sell Shark. GTech and Dyson.

hazell42 · 28/04/2019 16:09

I wanted a cordless Dyson for ages.
I bought one and gave the old one to my friend.
I keep borrowing it back. I spend more time cleaning the Dyson than cleaning with the Dyson. I have to empty it every single time. And it is awkward. The filter falls out so it is gaffer taped in.
If it sucks up anything larger than a speck of dust it loses power.
I need 2 different coins to open the brush bit and clean it.
Honestly Terribly designed.
So disappointed.
The only reason I keep it is that it cost such a lot of money I'm embarrassed

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 28/04/2019 16:10

My gran has a Gtech and MIL has a shark, I'm incredibly envious of both, especially when I've just lugged my faithful, reliable but heavy Henry up the stairs.

BedraggledBlitz · 28/04/2019 16:10

I love my gtech

x2boys · 28/04/2019 16:14

Don't get the Asda,s own version it was crap and bits kept breaking off Hmm

hazell42 · 28/04/2019 16:15

And another thing. When you empty the Dyson you get showered with blowback from the dust. I have to empty it outside every day because otherwise I'd have to start all over again
Getting annoyed just thinking about it

pikapikachu · 28/04/2019 16:16

My next vacuum will be a Shark or GTech.

SometimesIGetNervous · 28/04/2019 16:19

I have a V6 and it’s a pile of shite. Doesn’t pick up anything beyond tiny crumbs and even then I have to go over it. I would never use it as a normal hoover and I don’t understand how anyone can. Also the dust clouds from emptying it are a pain. Loses power and cuts out constantly.

My Miele vacuum is great.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/04/2019 16:24

SometimesIGetNervous

Obvious question maybe but do you regularly wash the filter?

Thetreeonthehill · 28/04/2019 16:27

I was going to buy a Dyson V6. So glad you started this thread OP.
