I don't have mlm friends so this was a surprise treat from one who's just started selling Body Shop products. Now, I like body shop and have fond memories of my teen years spraying white musk constantly, but magic cream that vanishes stretch marks? It's not a bloody rash Hmm

Anyway, it prompted me to ask, what other wild mlm claims have you seen recently?

I think people usually put them on the main thread

The current iteration (part 48) is quite fast moving because of the telly programme

Is tropic skincare one of them? I keep getting invites to parties from mums at school.

buttermilkwaffles · 27/04/2019 13:51

Claiming that they are entrepreneurial and creating their own small business...no you are not, you are a glorified commission only sales rep building someone else's business and brand by flogging overpriced products to your friends and family.

BlueThesaurusRex · 27/04/2019 13:54

One friend I have constantly touts the weight loss properties of juice plus.
She weighs nearly 20 stone.

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 27/04/2019 13:56

Have a friend who told me aloe Vera would cure my psoriasis. Yeh Brenda my consultant dermatologist recommended Forever Living instead of actual treatment.

MrsSpenserGregson · 27/04/2019 13:59

She'd probably weigh 30 stone if she wasn't using Juice Plus @BlueThesaurusRex Grin

Livedandlearned · 27/04/2019 14:03

A "live" I saw recently, trying to flog am overpriced mascara, and the Hun reckons that women have become millionaires from this mascara! Some women earn £80k a month from it!

Haahahahahaha! I want to laugh in her face.

ThisCoolBean · 27/04/2019 14:13

Ah I have a friend on Facebook who’s deep into Arbonne. Fine, fair enough i suppose but but she quite often promotes using her DC’s photos and her parenting of them (ie Arbonne is giving them a better life) which seems a bit off.
I also watched a very uncomfortable ‘live’ session thing with her and another man who seemed quite high up in arbonne. A lot of bigging each other up and smiles and success and happiness and aren’t we fabulous. But she slightly went off script in her words or something and he corrected her in a sort of underhand but menacing way. That was uncomfortable to see.

ThisCoolBean · 27/04/2019 14:15

I love it when she DMs me asking if I want to know how I can be as successful as her and work for myself, and I’m always able to reply no thanks I love my job and I really truly am self employed (with no sales targets!)

fecketyfeck21 · 27/04/2019 14:15

can't understand why some people fall for this rubbish.

BlueThesaurusRex · 27/04/2019 14:17

@MrsSpencerGregson
That’ll be her excuse if someone calls her out on it Grin

fifig87 · 27/04/2019 14:17

Not my friend, but boyfriends sister sells stuff, her claim was that it could cure mental illness and infertility. Utter bullshit and dangerous

DonkeyHohtay · 27/04/2019 14:18

Anything with #bossbabe or #mumpreneur. Iv'e been around the block enough times to know that 99.9999% of stuff MLM zombies post is total bollocks.

Especially any claims about earnings.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 27/04/2019 14:19

I have a friend who does body shop but doesn’t think of it as a mlm. Luckily she doesn’t try to recruit or push parties but she can be a bit of a bore about their products and you can’t even go for coffee without her wanting to give you a facial or hair treatment.

I do use some body shop products which I used to buy in store that I now get from her.
I would have been buying them away and it saves me having to go into town, pay parking and run the risk of them not being in stock. By getting them via my friend she earns out of it and I get my stuff delivered to my door. But I won’t be sucked into buying random stuff just because it claims my skin/hair/nails/feet really need me to to spend £20 to slap something smelling of roses/peppermint/fruit on them.

Ellisandra · 27/04/2019 14:21

I know a Forever Living bot, who regular posts how well she’s doing on ‘Clean9’ 9 day aloe juice weight loss.

Each time, I want to post - just how many times are you going to the same 5lb of water, Sandra?

vampirethriller · 27/04/2019 14:22

Keto coffee that can apparently get rid of lbs by just drinking one cup a day.

englishdictionary · 27/04/2019 14:24

I have one who does youniqe and is totally devoted to it, posting several times a day. I have another who does it and literally posts about it once a week! One body shop and no juice plus, but the body shop one used to do juice plus and Herbalife

Rachelle11 · 27/04/2019 14:25

A friend form high school asked me to work with her. Never actually said what the job was beyond marketing. She posts videos on line about how happy she is being able to work and stay home with the kids. Happy, happy, happy!! Never says what it is she actually does though. I looked up more info on her and she sells a workout drink.

Another friend sells Younique. I finally just told her I stopped wearing makeup. That said the mascara she totes a lot is awful. Makes her eyelashes so clumpy and costs an arm and a leg. A lot of the makeup she sells looks awful. When she posts a pic of her with no makeup or just a little makeup she looks so much better.

WheelyCote · 27/04/2019 14:26

The white mercedes thing. My friend is part of one that promises a white merc. Dont remember which one it is...but its the best skincare ever apparently that also does self development conferences and days

🙄

CannonFodder · 27/04/2019 14:27

I have a “friend”, who gave up a managerial job to pursue mlm. She uses the skills she learnt there to set up her “business” and “manage” a bunch of women. She is one of the few and far between people, who make very good money out of mlm. She sells from about 20 different suppliers and has a website apparently - I’ve never seen it. All I can think when looking at her house she bought and did up recently is that other people’s misfortune paid for it.....

Minai · 27/04/2019 14:30

I’ve got a friend on fb who regularly posts screenshots of payments from younique she has received, with the amounts blacked out. Only the blacked out area is so small you can tell it is probably about £1.36 or something. Although it is apparently paying her bills #bossbabe

FilthyforFirth · 27/04/2019 14:38

Someone I went to school with is deep into juice plus. Pisses me off no end. Her husband is clearly rich so she doesnt need to work/her house looks amazing. But she claims it is down to her 'amazing business'. She is ALWAYS trying to recruit people. But the worst thing is she uses her children constantly. They are always in her shit videos and pictures and I think it is piss poor parenting.

Livedandlearned · 27/04/2019 14:44

I might start posting pictures of my payslip on fb. If they can do it....

mimibunz · 27/04/2019 14:44

These mlms target vulnerable women who are excited by the thought of making money without having to leave their homes. I read an article about many being military wives, who can already feel isolated.

ParadiseLaundry · 27/04/2019 14:45

I saw one who claimed she was going to retire by 30 Grin

She now has a normal job and it's all gone quiet on the retirement front.
