So i work in a pub, i was serving a family of four (2 kids between 6 and 10ish) the kids were off playing in the play area when i bought over their meals. The kids both had chicken nuggets and chips (no veg) and as soon as i put the plates down the mother poured salt all over both of the kids meals without even asking them if they wanted it!!!

Why? Why why why would you ever do this?! Why do the childen need any extra salt to an already salty meal? She didn't even give them a choice just poured it all over the meals without even asking them. They dont even get a choice in whether they get an addrd salt diet or not. Id never even dream of putting any added salt in mine or my children food. Also any salt for that matter, I wont buy any high in salt foods.

Sorry this is a rant just upset me the children didnt even get a choice in whether they eat salt or not. Start as you mean to go on i suppose...

I'd suggest getting a life. Or another job.

Sabrinatheteenagebitchx · 26/04/2019 13:15

I do understand about the high salt in diet due to medical condition. It just seems unlikely and more out of habit with this family.

I've come here to discuss the topic i have posted about not about grammar and spelling

Are you new?

Sabrinatheteenagebitchx · 26/04/2019 13:16

@NotACleverName surely you could say that about 40% of threads on here?! Everyone is allowed an opinion and to discuss what's on there mind.

Sabrinatheteenagebitchx · 26/04/2019 13:17

New to what? What's spelling and grammar got to do with this?

mummyhaschangedhername · 26/04/2019 13:18

If it's proper fish and chip shop chips than it has to have salt on them, it's the law. 😉

I don't put salt on my children's food, we got used to cutting salt when my youngest started to eat and he's 9 now. I do add it to some things now, kids will occasional ask, I allow small amounts for my oldest if he wants it, but my youngest who is 5 I still don't allow, although I have pretended to add it before (cover the hole with my finger) just to save an argument (major parenting fail I know)!

hsegfiugseskufh · 26/04/2019 13:18

But newsflash! Salt is vital for the optimal functioning of the human body

yes, I think we all know that, but we also know that its already contained within a lot of the food we eat, so we probably don't need to add loads of it to every meal anyway.

Aintnon · 26/04/2019 13:20

Judgy much?

And isn't it worse that she was feeding the children nuggets and chips in that case?

And salt is not necessarily bad for you. It's important to keep your electrolyte levels up.

She shook the fast flowing salt pot over the plate for about 5 seconds

No she didn't 😂

Sabrinatheteenagebitchx · 26/04/2019 13:20

I dont even think my 5 year old knows what salt is!

bobstersmum · 26/04/2019 13:21

It is mn law that you must always use proper grammar and correct spelling Sabrina!

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 26/04/2019 13:21

You're not discussing anything, just being a GFer.

45 grains!? OMG, ring SS now!

Make a refreshing change from the 'Adults in a beer garden were smoking! Won't someone think of the children?!' threads that show up every Summer.

Drogosnextwife · 26/04/2019 13:22

plainspeaking did you find that medal yet, it better be a gold one because OP is definitely the parenting winner. Her DD doesn't even know what salt is! 👏 Well done OP, well done.

Sabrinatheteenagebitchx · 26/04/2019 13:22

Im not say all salt is bad im just saying no reason to add it to and already unhealthy salty meal.

QuestionableMouse · 26/04/2019 13:22

Still not addressing the link I posted...

hsegfiugseskufh · 26/04/2019 13:23

I don't think its goady to be concerned about a small child eating loads of salt unnecessarily.

And I don't think that because its "bad food" already that it doesn't matter if you make it worse..

And tbh I think smoking near children is really stupid and inconsiderate anyway soooooo

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 26/04/2019 13:24

I dont even think my 5 year old knows what salt is!

What? Mine was already grinding the pink Himalayan version in her personalised mortar and pestle to add to the organic brown lentils she was cooking. It was vegan week on our meal plan. What kind of parent are you?

Drogosnextwife · 26/04/2019 13:24

Chips taste shite unless they have loads of salt anyway, she did the right thing.

hsegfiugseskufh · 26/04/2019 13:24

and why have there been so many threads recently where people have the piss taken out of them for essentially being a caring parent?

its the mum equivalent of the "cool wife" thing again isn't it. Sigh.

Sabrinatheteenagebitchx · 26/04/2019 13:24

I'd prefer a good parenting certificate rather than a medal thanks.

OP posts:
outsho · 26/04/2019 13:26

Maybe even improve your grammar instead of judging your customers.
Grin.

I think you posted this expecting the middle class MN brigade to be up in arms in the same way they are about fruit shoots and Greggs sausage rolls. Backfired a bit.

Drogosnextwife · 26/04/2019 13:26

Wait though OP, does your DD know what sugar is?

Thetruthwillout80 · 26/04/2019 13:27

Maybe the salt pot was jammed so not a lot came out?

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 26/04/2019 13:27

Caring parent, cares for one's own children. Judgy GF, starts internet threads about possibly fictitious clients in their work establishment. Spot the difference. Where is this pub with 'fast flowing' salt dispensers? I'm quite the drinker and have yet to see any besides the standard ones with holes. I'm gonna tell those stingy bastards they need 'fast flowing' ones.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 26/04/2019 13:28

'I'd prefer a good parenting certificate'

I really needed this thread! Howling now 😂
