To wonder if anyone has used home gym equipment long term?

In the past I've had a crosstrainer, which became a piece of furniture until I sold it. I've seen many other people do the same, by a piece of equipment and then don't use it.

I'm consideting getting a treadmill to help with my daily step target as i get so sweaty and unkempt walking outside I can be put off if it's not quite cold to mitigate my heat. I also want to get a curling bar to add to my dumbbells so that I can workout when I can't quite fit in a gym trip.

Would they be doomed to the back of a cupboard or does anyone consistently use their equipment? If you're lucky enough to have a full on home gym, this probably doesn't apply to you as I think the issue is when the equipment becomes part of your living space rather than kept in a room you go to specifically to workout in.

DH has an expensive static bike which he never uses although guests sometimes do. He insisted on having it in the garage which probably doesn’t help but what can you do?

I have a small squishy Pilates ball that cost about a fiver some years ago and yes, I do still use it occasionally. I don’t know anyone who has actually used and got full benefit from their treadmill, rowing machine etc.
