Did anyone predict the deaths? What was your overall opinion of the film. I enjoyed it but found it rushed in places and slow in others. Was sad with the losses but not as good as I was expecting

Why don’t searches for “endgame” work on here?, surely I’m not the only person who has seen this. I don’t have that many billions!

I really enjoyed it. I was so excited for this film. Especially the big battle scene at the end, I thought it wrapped up the saga nicely. I'm a huge Marvel fan and think the Russo brothers did an amazing job. Cried my eyes out at the end though! Blush

GoosetheCat · 27/04/2019 05:43

I did protect the big death (I think you know who I mean, don't want to spoil it for anyone) bit other than that, all my theories went out the window!

MarinetteDupainCheng · 27/04/2019 05:46

I loved it. I think they did an amazing feat and pulled it off really well, all those threads from previous movies pulling together.

Saw it yesterday morning and I’ve still been speculating how the time travel shenanigans might have affected the timelines and trying to remember if things were foreshadowed in previous movies.

I especially need to rewatch Winter Soldier (not a hardship) and play close attention.

There was just the right amount of call backs and shout outs too.

My only thing complaint is that I would have liked more Bucky, but I always feel that way 😂

MarinetteDupainCheng · 27/04/2019 05:47

Oh, and there were less deaths than I predicted!

LittleElle · 27/04/2019 06:51

It was AMAZING. I cried at some stages.

I predicted Tony’s death (sorry people but it says SPOILERS ALERT in the title) but when I saw him with his daughter my heart just smiled.

Natasha - no bloody clue but it makes sense.

I loved Steve not coming back - I could see that one coming!

I too want to go and rewatch some films to see if there’s any foreshadowing. I bet there is.

I find the whole franchise so well done, unlike anything else we’ve seen with films and characters interconnecting throughout films. It is so well done!

I loved it! I did think that when Strange (was it?) asked if that was everybody, it would have been an ideal moment for Deadpool and Wolverine to appear!

CuppaSarah · 27/04/2019 07:28

I predicted most of the big events in the film, but I was still really surprised how it all happened and came together iyswim. Definitely didn't effect my enjoyment, if anything it heightened it. Lots of clichés and tropes, but done to perfection and didn't feel tacky for a moment.

I wish we'd seen more of Dr Strange though, absolutely love his character. Although seeing the Grand Master was a lovely surprise. My only complaint is I wanted more! It was all so good I could have sat through six hours happily.

I hated it. Found it predictable, unnecessarily long, very slow for the first half (I actually considered leaving the cinema, I was getting bored).

So disappointed given all the hype and good reviews. Much preferred infinity war.

PrasadsNonDyingDeclaration · 27/04/2019 08:28

Whatever you think about Endgame, it’s staggering that over twenty years a studio has been able to tie in so many films (20+) across one story arc so successfully with the only major continuity issues being thrown up by side projects like Agent Carter.

Think of how horribly Star Wars have done it. GotG could easily have been a Jar Jar Binks moment but even out of films with such levity a primary and secondary character from those films has been a key player in each of the last two Avengers movies.

I’m also so happy that for all the times Black Widow is portrayed as a sexy Smurfette in Avengers Assemble and Captain Marvel is perfectly coiffed and in skintight rubber, they have female characters that aren’t necessarily conventionally attractive white earth women.

GoosetheCat · 27/04/2019 09:39

I loved that they focused on the original avengers moreso than the new upcoming ones. It was more of a finish for the originals than a start for the new ones. I did predict Tony's death, but not Black Widows. And I loved Thor! 😂 But when Cap picked up the hammer I actually did an excited little clap! 🤣

Very much looking forward to Phase 4, although it's weird not waiting for a film without any of the originals in.

VenusStarr · 27/04/2019 10:12

Agree @Slicedpineapple, massively underwhelmed and disappointed.

I'm really annoyed that Tony died. He was happy, he had a family and he said he wasn't prepared to risk that. Yes they survived but not with him. It just felt a bit predicable and cliché.

Far too much hulk and nebula, both very irritating. Captain Marvel contributed nothing (what was with the hair?!)

I'm sad that's the ending they chose. Its left me feeling pissed off.

Member984815 · 27/04/2019 10:17

Loved it only found out it was released yesterday and my son was excited to see it , I hadn't realized it was 3 hrs long but it was worth it

breakfastpizza · 27/04/2019 13:09

Glad to see some naysayers. I'm a huge Infinity War fan (probably seen it twenty times?) and I felt so let down by Endgame.

Way too long - could have easily cut 30 minutes, especially from the beginning.

Tone - all over the place. Yes, it's devastating that they lost the battle, and that half the population died but we didn't need 45 minutes of soul-searching about it.

Fat Thor - It was funny at first, and I actually really liked the emotional journey he went on, but I'd have liked to have seen some God-like magic to bring him back to physical perfection for the final battle. (This is just a personal preference though, and did not ruin the film for me!).

The big death - why him? He did not deserve that ending. He sacrificed so much and had finally found his happiness.

The women - all just props for the men. I honestly thought Pepper must have had a lobotomy. She had zero personality.

Cap - Completely against character for him to take another man's wife. I don't care about alternate universes/timelines. And I don't believe the theory that he was her unnamed husband all along. He is too honourable, and forcing that tidy ending felt like a betrayal. He could have retired in present day and devoted himself to helping others, like in the support group he was running. He could have met a girl through that or pursued things with Sharon. Arghh, just so pissed off about this one.

I did enjoy:

  • "Time Heist".
  • Professor Hulk, although I'd have liked to have seen more about that progression.
  • Cap fighting himself!
  • Hulk hating stairs (don't we all?)
  • Cap using a certain weapon (Thor: "I knew it!").
  • Wanda getting her revenge on Thanos.
  • Thanos head butt and Captain Marvel not even flinching.

Saying all that, I will rewatch when it hits digital to see if my feelings have changed.

The boy at Tony’s funeral i did guess straight away it was the kid from Iron Man 3, would be a nice touch if he became the next Iron Man. Although i didn’t enjoy it as much as infinity wars, maybe that’s because they meant to leave no questions unanswered. But with other films I always enjoyed reading the Easter eggs, you always miss something and need a second watch. This was all a bit obvious. Enjoyable but a bit of a let down
