I would say I was skinny , regularly had people tell me that too

OP posts:
tor8181 · 25/04/2019 19:14

*5ft 10 not 20

greenlloon · 25/04/2019 19:15

this is a strange title as you can be skinny and healthy in fact what most people call skinny is healthy and average is overweight today.

badlydrawnperson · 25/04/2019 19:16

Very skinny. Bullied by a couple of fat kids at school for it (yes really - I am old). My mother took me to the Doctors because she was so alarmed by how skinny I was - doc just laughed. She shovelled food down me - I never gained weight until my 30s. Now overweight and can't stop eating.

MammaSchwifty · 25/04/2019 19:20

Skinny through childhood and teenage years, always very tall. Slim through mid-20s, mostly slim now in mid-30s though I eat like a horse and probably could be slimmer if I cared enough (which I don't). No wish to be overweight, so keep half an eye on it.

Bibijayne · 25/04/2019 19:21

Varied between healthy and skinny as a child. Now overweight (but nearly 35 and 8 months post partum)

Bibijayne · 25/04/2019 19:23

@greenlloon

I assumed OP meant underweight when they said skinny.

beckyb123 · 25/04/2019 19:27

I can remember the 'school doctor' telling my mother that I was obese when I was about six years old. This was in 1962. Fat child, slim teenager now fat grandma!

BillywigSting · 25/04/2019 19:31

I was a healthy weight until puberty plus a combination of traumas (parents divorcing, moving away from all of my childhood friends, starting a new secondary school completely alone, and repeated sexual assault at 13yo) lead me to comfort eat so I was a chubby teen.

Dieted to a healthy weight in late teens early twenties then piled it all back on again after having dc. Am once again trying to ditch the extra pounds but by actually addressing my issues rather than just calorie or point or syn counting. It's tough but it's working

MyGastIsFlabbered · 25/04/2019 19:32

Overweight and bar a few successful dieting attempts, have remained so all my life.

EdWinchester · 25/04/2019 19:34

Really, really skinny.

My 16 year old is exactly like I was. Zero body fat and all protruding bones.

vampirethriller · 25/04/2019 19:36

Skinny then slim without trying til I was 30, then my thyroid was damaged by an abscess and now I put weight on just being in the same room as a slice of bread.

BattenburgIsland · 25/04/2019 19:38

Slightly overweight. I was very tall too. Got bullied for being 'fat' but I'm not sure I ever actually was for my height. I was just generally large and I looked a lot older than I was too...
Took me a long time to love my body and realise I wasnt actually fat. I mean I still felt fat in my twenties when I was a size 8 and 5ft 7! It sucks being a big child because if you get bullied it never leaves you.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 25/04/2019 19:41

Slightly chubby in a family of normal weight people.

It's the same now (well worse actually but I'm not morbidly obese) except my older brother is chubby too.

Bunnylady53 · 25/04/2019 19:46

Healthy but when I was older, DM kept putting me on diets even though I didn’t need to lose weight. Took me many years to love how I look. Now I worry about DD as she is overweight & I need to tackle it sensitively. I don’t want her to go through what I did

FetchezLaVache · 25/04/2019 19:53

Sturdy child, sturdy teen, then randomly became skinny in my mid-20s and remained so (pregnancy notwithstanding) until early 40s, when I gradually became slim rather than skinny.

HoldMyGirl · 25/04/2019 19:53

I'd say I was exactly on the line for normal/overweight, perhaps at times over the line.
I was certainly never skinny.

I developed hips and breasts far earlier than any of my friends, and became very self conscious of my weight at age 15/16.
I'd imagine I was a size 12 then.

I began strict dieting at age 16 and got down to a size 8-10.
I began binge eating in my 20s and became obese.

I'm now in my mid 30s and I think I now have a healthy relationship with food, although I admit that there are days I restrict (but only if I've overeaten during the previous days)
I'm now a size 8/10 again.

greenlloon · 25/04/2019 19:57

I assumed OP meant underweight when they said skinny.

well they are not the same thing

Greenandcabbagelooking · 25/04/2019 19:59

Small, skinny child.
Slight, short teen.
Grew and gained weight at uni - 5 feet 7 and 10 stone at tallest and heaviest.
As an adult I am generally between 8 stone 8 and 9 stone. Currently a bit less due to stress, but my clothes are too big, and it hurts to sit on hard chairs because my bum and back dig in.

Sashkin · 25/04/2019 20:04

Normal weight till puberty, bit curvy post, skinny again 16-22 (disordered eating), BMI between 23-25 since (which is a bit flabby on my frame). Much more sport now than when I was thinner, I didn’t used to have the energy. Same overall shape since puberty, just a bit bigger or smaller.

I am much more “matronly” post-DC, hopefully that will settle back down with time because that makes me feel far fatter than anything else does. I was a 30D at uni, 30E pre-kids, 32G post, and I feel completely unsexy as a result.

dairymilkmonster · 25/04/2019 20:23

Healthy weight til puberty (11)
11-15 overweight but not dangerously so
age 15 developed anorexia - underweight to various degrees til early 30s
now mid 30s and just about 'healthy' wt, bmi 18.5
I don't recommend this approach - anorexia is a living hell

My sister has always been mid normal range, sometimes bit slimmer
mum and aunt and grandmother all size 10-12 throughout their lives

Ithinkmycatisevil · 25/04/2019 20:27

I was a skinny little runt. But my my pretty much always under fed us.
