I would say I was skinny , regularly had people tell me that too

OP posts:

Skinny until early twenties. Piled on weight from mid-twenties onwards and now yo yo diet. Eighteen months ago I was 11 stone (am 6ft) but I now weigh 16 stone.

Always been "skinny" hated it as a child/teen but actually now I'm in my 30s with 2 children, am grateful my "metabolism hasn't caught up with me" (as everyone always used to tell me would happen) as I love food and am one of those people who can eat what I want without it affecting my weight. But I genuinely used to HATE being thin growing up. I'd drink pints of milk and gorge blocks of cheese daily to try and put weight on 🤣.... It never worked.

Geekster1963 · 25/04/2019 17:09

I was a healthy weight as a child, though I had quite skinny arms and legs at one point, I was always the shortest in my class and only got to 4ft 11. I gained some weight in my 20's and 30's got to my early 40's and my BMI was 27 I lost weight and it's around 20 now. Because I'm so short and got narrow shoulders I can fit in kids clothes.

JustDanceAddict · 25/04/2019 17:24

I was skinny - only really gained weight when I went to uni. I would still be slim if I didn’t have the mum tum which is a constant battle to keep in check as it’s the worst place health-wise to retain weight. I’m a small size 12 on top and big 12 on the bottom.
Never been fat per se but I should really be small 12 everywhere!

CSIblonde · 25/04/2019 17:26

Skinny. Healthy cooked from scratch meals. Sweets only on Saturday as 'treat'. All my friends were a size 14 by age 14. I was an 8 : & mocked constantly for having no boobs. The sweets on Saturdays only backfired. I grew up obsessed with chocolate & after I left home would eat that rather than a proper meal. Once I hit 30 weight was problematic. I'm now a big size 14 & constantly falling off my diet for chocolate binges.

Siameasy · 25/04/2019 18:16

Skinny child which was the norm in the 80s. Stayed skinny/slim until 30s at which point I started to yo yo, put on stomach fat and suffer blood sugar issues and reflux. I now realise I have a very low tolerance for starchy carbohydrates so have had to reevaluate my whole lifestyle so am now within BMI

Shootingstar1115 · 25/04/2019 18:20

Until I was 8, I was skinny actually really skinny. I was a fussy eater (still am). At 8 I guess hormones start kicking in (saying that I didn’t start my period until 15) and is started gaining weight and I was an overweight teenager.

The diet my mother give us was terrible to be honest. Crisps, chocolate, sweets whenever we wanted. Nothing homemade ever, we were allowed to eat crisps for breakfast as she never made us breakfast. Pack lunches were huge, portions were huge. I didn’t realise it at the time but it was terrible really. 😱

NameChangedNoImagination · 25/04/2019 18:20

Have been all at different points in both childhood and adulthood. Have been underweight and am now a size 18.

Redcrayons · 25/04/2019 18:23

Skinny. I was bullied in school for being so thin.

I could eat whatever I liked till my 30s, when it hit me like a ton of bricks. Took me till mid forties to realise I needed to watch what I eat.

I'd say I'm now slim-ish

spaniorita · 25/04/2019 18:23

Overweight and stayed overweight - got worse and worse actually.

Youngandfree · 25/04/2019 18:25

I would say skinny-healthy and still the same

ShagMeRiggins · 25/04/2019 18:26

I’m curious why you’re asking, OP? Genuinely curious, not troll-hunting etc.

Stravapalava · 25/04/2019 18:27

Healthy - my natural body shape is sturdy / muscly rather than willowy, but I always saw myself as "big" and "fat" ever since I can remember - from the age of about 4!

I'm still the same now. I had a brief period of being skinny / very slim for my body shape which I loved but just couldn't keep up.

JoinTheDots · 25/04/2019 18:30

Skinny small child, had to have prescription supplements

Chubby young teenager (as soon as hormones released)

Slim late teen and young adult

Healthy fit adult

Overweight peri-menopausal woman (working on this currently)

Kedgeree · 25/04/2019 18:34

Skinny kid, skinny teen (was still being mistaken for a boy at 19, slim adult, still slim post-menopause. I take after my paternal grandmother and am the odd one out amongst my sisters and DM.

CountFosco · 25/04/2019 18:35

Normal weight but as a teenager I thought I was fat - I was 9 stone. Now healthy weight again after fluctuating during the baby years.

WindsweptEgret · 25/04/2019 18:49

I was a healthy weight in childhood. I thought I was overweight, but I was only 59th percentile (on the NHS calculator now) at 14, before I starved myself so that I weighed the same at 15 as I did at 11. I have been in the healthy weight range since I was 17. My BMI is currently 21.

ooooohbetty · 25/04/2019 18:50

Very skinny. Was so skinny in my late teens people used to tell me they were worried about my weight. Now I'm fat.

Echobelly · 25/04/2019 18:54

I was a perpetually underweight child as I just didn't eat much!

I was glad to put on a bit of weight and develop more of a shape once I got to 16. Remained a steady size 8-10 until my late 30s, more of a 10-12 since then.

BogglesGoggles · 25/04/2019 18:55

I was healthy, then went through a period of fatness (about 7 years leading up to puberty), now I am healthy again.

SuziQ10 · 25/04/2019 18:57

I was thin as a child and I'm still thin / petite now. A size 8.
I've never been overweight. I'm not that interested in food, or not in the way some people are.

My 4yo DD loves her food, is always hungry. She's average weight, not thin like I was.

Thatsnotmyotter · 25/04/2019 18:59

Skinny but in the way kids are meant to be.

At my biggest I was around a size 12/BMI 26ish in my first couple of years of uni (bad eating habits and shiftwork as a student midwife) and at my smallest was a 4-6/BMI 19ish (orthorexia type tendencies, depression and anxiety, and very intense weight training). I now sit happily at an 8-10/BMI22-23 with a good balance between eating what I like and doing enough endurance exercise that it doesn’t really matter.

My brother was a skinny kid but is currently still in the university weight gain phase. I expect he’ll probably lose it after he graduates.

MattieB19 · 25/04/2019 19:08

Healthy until about 9 then stopped eating essentially and got very skinny. Overweight aged 13-15 then healthy and now too skinny again! I've been it all.

tor8181 · 25/04/2019 19:14

skinny and very tall but did develop very early(5ft20 by 11 and DD/E bust at 12)
