To think this is a worrying episode of Peppa Pig?

It's the one where Daddy Pig can't find his glasses.

Mummy Pig's reaction is very tense, like she's overly keen to find them so Daddy Pig doesn't get too upset doesn't start throwing his weight around

It's like she's very anxious to make it clear to him that it'll all be okay, that he's the silly one for losing them, etc etc.

And she keeps on telling the kids that Daddy Pig will be very 'grumpy' if they aren't found, and if they are found, this can all stop. He will go back to being 'happy' again.

AIBU?!

Miss Rabbit got an award from the Queen for being the most hard working person in the country.

And on that note, why is the queen human? They don't have a problem with anthropomorphism generally, why couldn't the queen be a squirrel?

I bitch, but actually I'm OK with Peppa (the show, not the character). We watch it in DH's native language for DD's sake, and basically just watch the same four episodes in sequence. I can now hold semi-fluent conversations about the tooth fairy and recycling in Russian.

10PercentMoreBanana · 23/04/2019 22:02

ButtonMooooon shhhh no they're all part flounder

Twillow · 23/04/2019 22:02

You're not overthinking it I was saying this just the other day - daddy pig is inept and it's made out to be a joke. Why can't he be a better role model?

BelulahBlanca · 23/04/2019 22:07

I find Pedro Pony a right drip, really liked the Foxes.

TrumpsFerret · 23/04/2019 22:07

I thought this was going to be about the one where Mr Fox gets a bit too interested in the chickens

UnalliterativeGeorge · 23/04/2019 22:09

My name is from being made to watch too much peppa and it annoying me every time because all the animals have alliterative names except George Grin

We've moved onto paw patrol in our house now. Not much better!

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 23/04/2019 22:10

I kind of like Daddy pig. He’s a fuckwit but he’s ok. Peppa is very annoying mind you. Much prefer Ben and holly - solely for Nanny Plum

BethanyGilbert · 23/04/2019 22:10

Danny Dog is my favourite. I hate the episode when his dad comes back and he misses the sea. I love when he says he misses his darlings. It actually makes me quite emotional to think about it actually.

PodgeBod · 23/04/2019 22:11

Twillow Daddy Pig is not inept Shock he is the World Champion Puddle Jumper! I think that's Peppa Pig equivalent of an Olympian.

LilQueenie · 23/04/2019 22:12

well of course he is going to be grumpy without his glasses. He might be so blind he could hit his snout of a wall. That would piss me off if I were a pig.

RoseGoldEagle · 23/04/2019 22:13

Only the mammals are sentient

But the crocodile is a zookeeper (voiced by Jo Brand).

Hate how rude they all are about Daddy Pig’s big tummy. And how Peppa patronises George all the time and their parents think it’s funny and cute. Love Miss Rabbit though. DD has moved on to Ben and Holly and it took me ages to realise that Nanny Plum and Miss Rabbit are the same person!!

TeamLannister · 23/04/2019 22:13

The worst is Suzy Sheep, she's a massive bitch! There's an episode where she's on a play date with Peppa and they won't let George play so Mummy Pig makes cookies with him. Doesn't address the how mean Peppa & Suzy are at all!!!...I was so cross I ended up having a big rant to DH about it. He just sat staring at me and blinking like SpongeBob while I got it all off my chest...

TVname · 23/04/2019 22:13

@Bobbiepin Jo Brand voices Mrs Crocodile one of the zookeepers, so they're not all mammals.

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 23/04/2019 22:13

DGS (2) adores Mr Bull Hmm He doesn't bother with titles - every time he spots his hero (whether on the TV or in a book) it's like being back in the 1980s at Sunday teatime, as a loud yell of 'BULLLLL' echoes through the house... Grin

NCforthis2019 · 23/04/2019 22:14

It’s a child’s show for gods sake - why on Earth are you trying to turn it into something other than what it is?! Is this some feminist thing?

TVname · 23/04/2019 22:15

RoseGoldEagle beat me to it. @TeamLannister agree about Suzy Sheep, there's at least one episode where she's weirdly desperate to chop a tree down.

No, it's a freaking hilarious thing. The same kind of convo you'd have down the pub for a laugh.

Not as bad as the bloody Thomas the tank engine episode where the sociopathic fat controller actually walls an engine up alive for years for (alright granted the train was being a bit of a twat) not wanting to get his paint wet....that was horrific? And probably disturbingly did not upset ds2 in the slightest...then again the fat controller is God in our house.

Peppa generally annoys me ...as in all the characters not just the pigs...after years of heavy commuting I get an eye twitch when blasted daddy dog or whatever the hell he is keeps yelling "dig up the road "

Dp now evicts me form the living room (usually giving me alcohol en route...he's not an evil Sir Topham whotsit ) when he sees the tell tale twitch that I am beginning to lose it.

Sadists....thats what children's programme writers are....sadists!!

Drogosnextwife · 23/04/2019 22:19

I think Peppa pig and Ben and Holly are brilliant, give me a good laugh.

TVname · 23/04/2019 22:19

I do quite like when they put in something for the parents, like when Mr Fox is snooping around the chicken coop or when Daddy Pig tells Mr Wolf that their house is made of bricks. Saw one this week with Mandy Mouse in her wheelchair and they were talking about how everything is on a hill.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 23/04/2019 22:23

I am sure Mummy Pig is a MN - she is rude, bossy and demanding and Daddy Pig is a weak and boring doormat.

... and she’s always on her computer supposedly ‘working’ when in reality she’s probably on Mumsnet.

TrixieFranklin · 23/04/2019 22:24

Mummy Pig likes to be the only one to poke fun at daddy big. When they go to the Fairground and the stall holders say he's too fat to be good at the competitions she gets the rage and smashes them winning all the toys for her spoilt little piggy.

I also want to put the little elephant who says he's a know it all in the naughty corner for being so smug.

RoadrunnerMeepMeep · 23/04/2019 22:24

George Pig was named after George Orwell (for those asking why his name is not alliterative)

BallsOfFluff · 23/04/2019 22:24

Talking of weird episodes. I took DD to see the new Peppa Pig and it contains some of the oddest things - even by Peppa Pig standards.

The episode about 'Roman Day' where Granny Pig is dressed up in all the regalia and teaches Peppa and George a chant that sounds very cult like made me feel uncomfortable.

BallsOfFluff · 23/04/2019 22:25

*new Peppa Pig film that should say.
