To be terrified about climate change?

Extinction rebellion has encouraged me to do a lot of reading around climate change. I admit, before this action I wasn't aware of quite how catastrophic climate change was. I'm now really quite scared, and worried for my son's future and the future of any children he may have.

The attitude of some world leaders towards climate change is also quite terrifying.

I can't join the extinction rebellion protests as I work in law enforcement, but am now quite proud of those there. My brother is one of those who was arrested.

Anyone else shitting themselves over it?

Absolutely, it's a different landscape re veganism if you factor in animal welfare. I respect people coming to different conclusions about which foods to eat to minimise their impact in various ways.

I'm time poor - work full time, as does DH, with 2 small DC - but lucky enough to be financially comfortable enough to pay for high-welfare, low-impact animal products, etc.

I wish everyone had the time and means to eat sustainable food, but I understand it's not so simple for everyone. I just don't want anyone to be put off sustainable eating because they think the only way to do it is to go fully vegan.

Yes. It is truly terrifying. I don't like Extinction rebellion's tactic, but nothing else is working either, so can't blame them. The reality is that we all need to make massive changes to our life choices and global coordination in a way that hasn't been seen before. Our planet cannot support the current population level on the lifestyle that humans demand.

We have to try tho. Regarding China. If we stop buying the endless new clothes and plastic tat then maybe they will realise we mean business about the climate when the money stops flowing for the rich businesses

Hitting them in the pocket may be the only weapon we have.

What is the David Attenborough documentary and where can I watch it?

Cloudtree · 23/04/2019 19:09

It's on iplayer. Its quite distressing to see everything all brought together in one programme. The dead fruit bats with the babies etc were really upsetting. I was however encouraged by the message that there are key things we can all do that can turn this around.
