To ask how to get sour milk smell out?

iabu as I'm posting for traffic.

On way back from holiday recently a whole pint of (full fat if it makes a difference) milk managed to get spilled onto DS pram. I only noticed the next day but have stripped it as far as I can, washed the detachable bits, wiped down and scrubbed the non detachable bits with soapy water twice and left in garden. Still smells Sad

It seems to be emanating from the crease of the seat so in my desperation I've just febreezed for fabric like a maniac and put it back outside. If this doesn't work what can I do?!

Obviously its nice weather and ds is nearly getting too big for it and I want to sell it soon so we want to be out for walks, preferably without smelling like sour milk!

Oh no! You’re fucked. Takes loads of work to get that out.

killis cleaners do a solution for getting rancid milk out of upholstery.

Thanks for the bluntness 😩😅
Bloody nightmare! Maybe well be looking into a pushchair a bit sooner than I thought!

No you can get it out but it will take a while
Cover everything in bicarb and leave outside as long as possible! Then hoover bicarb. May need to repeat. Then you could buy a neutralising shampoo to give it a clean (pet shop shampoo good too for smelly dogs)

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 22/04/2019 07:40

Try a biological washing powder. Dissolve some powder in warm water and then see if you can hand wash the bit that still smells.

meow1989 · 22/04/2019 07:42

Baking powder and bicarbonate of soda are the same thing right?

When some spilt in the boot of my car and I didn’t notice for a while the only thing that shifted the smell was some stiff from the pet shop for cat/dog wee and poo. Breaks down the enzymes apparently

GreenTulips · 22/04/2019 07:46

Tea tree oil works on smelly trainers - worth a try

littlemisscynical · 22/04/2019 07:51

I know it's a bit late telling you this now but your mistake was washing it first. I made the same mistake when milk leaked in my car 😭.
Blot the excess, put lots of baking soda/bicarbonate of soda on it. Leave for hours then hoover it off.

littlemisscynical · 22/04/2019 07:52

No baking powder and bicarbonate of soda are different.

Busytizzy · 22/04/2019 07:58

I feel your pain...I spilt a full glass of milk on my fabric sofa last night. I've been having nightmares about the inevitable stink Shock

adagio · 22/04/2019 08:19

My vote is on bio washing powder (mixed with water). Scrub like hell, rinse a couple of times (it will be proper soaking wet) and leave to dry. At least the weather is good for drying!

PookieDo · 22/04/2019 08:26

See I would bicarb it first then wash it
You need to soak up all the excess first

PookieDo · 22/04/2019 08:27

A watermelon went off and exploded in my car boot. It was rancid. Cat litter and bicarb did sort it out 😂

TeddybearBaby · 22/04/2019 08:31

I spilt one of those 2 pints cartons on the floor in the back of the car last year. It was the height of summer as well! Took ages to come out. I tried everything. Lemon juice, talcum powder, bicarbonate of soda. Think I even tried vinegar at one point. I think keeping the windows open (so try to keep the pram open and outside if you can) as much as poss helped and just washing it a lot. Good luck, I remember the smell and having to get in the boiling, stinky car. It did go eventually!

JessieMcJessie · 22/04/2019 08:40

Sorry, you can’t sell this pram now, unless for a token amount with full disclosure about the spill. It will always be there to some extent.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 22/04/2019 08:43

Diluted Zoflora, works a treat. Ds spilled a whole carton of milk when he was about 18months. Happy days 🙄😱😉

meow1989 · 22/04/2019 11:05

Right, pretty much meat non bio on (with a toothbrush, I dont know why). Now have a quite nice smelling slimy pram in the sunshine.. will rinse later and see how it is

TeddybearBaby · 22/04/2019 11:07

Good luck!! Mine was worse cos it got into place I couldn’t even see or reach x

TheInebriati · 22/04/2019 11:11

Baking powder and bicarbonate of soda are the same thing right?
Noooo! Dont use baking powder, it has other ingredients in.

Non bio wont work, you need something biological. Have you any Vanish, biotex, or O2 laundry leach?

meow1989 · 22/04/2019 11:17

Sorry that was meant to say bio neat not non bio!
