I want to hear about your good or bad encounters with a celebrity/famous person please! In the late nineties I met the chef Ainsley Harriot at a London train station when I was cueing to buy a ticket! I was very excited about this and told him I loved the show Ready Steady Cook which he was on at the time, he was really nice and chatty but I didn't get his autograph though! More recently about 2 years ago Ray Winston was sitting at the table beside us in a Chinese restaurant but we didn't get to speak as he was engrossed in conversation. I nearly forgot Todd Carty aka Mark from East Enders used to use our local newsagent in the morning on way to Elstree again in the nineties, he was always very smiley and drove a little MG!

Lucky enough to work in an industry where I come into very close encounters with celebs. Worst one I've ever met is Jim Davidson. Arrogant as fuck and a proper "don't you know who I am" type of bloke.

Bouncingbelle · 22/04/2019 23:42

The Fonz - lovely lovely man
David Walliams - thoughtful & kind
Mel B - tiny

Would LOVE to meet the Duchess of Cambridge & see if she is 'normal' and if she is quite engaged as a mother, seeing as she wasnt raised by nannies.

Allabitmuchisntit · 22/04/2019 23:58

Miriam Margolyes - absolutely hilarious
Jools Holland - very polite and humble
Jonathan Price - tired and a bit grumpy

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 23/04/2019 00:01

I met Danny Dyer and he was lovely. Really down to earth and friendly.

I've mentioned this before but I turned down Stan Collymore when I was around 19. He asked " if I wanted to shag him in the toilet" he seemed suprised when I said no. This ladies and gents was his opening line too.

I have a friend who used to live next door to Richard Hammond and she used to always say what an arrogant arse he was.
I used to think he seems so nice on TV.
Recently I was stood behind him in a shop and he was utterly vile to the lady who served him when she recognised him and told someone who tried to stop him on the way out for an autograph to piss off.
I know it must be tedious to be famous but he really was awful.

WeMarchOn · 23/04/2019 01:07

incogneto · 23/04/2019 01:17

Kim kardashian & Kanye West

Lweji · 23/04/2019 01:25

I passed by Ricky Gervais twice in a fairly quiet Bloomsbury street. Obviously didn't approach him. He was dressed in exactly the same t-shirt outfit he always is.

I once shook hands with Princess Anne. It was a public although small event. No curtsey or anything, but she was wearing gloves. We should have worn some from the lab too. Grin

I was once in the same plane as the current UN General Secretary. He got bumped to executive class from economy. He seemed very friendly.

Indie139 · 23/04/2019 07:00

Never really met anyone famous. However i have a schoolfriend who is one of the main characters in star wars.

strawberrisc · 23/04/2019 07:06

@DirtyDeeds

The lovely late Caroline Aherne. Met her in the loos at an awards ceremony. She was really sweet and told me that my dress was beautiful and how gorgeous I looked. I was quite insecure at the time and I felt a million dollars after that.

I’m so sad I’ll never get to meet her. My absolute favourite comedienne. I still can’t believe she’s gone. I loved ALL her work. I’d have loved to have seen her in a serious role. She would have smashed it.

Indie139 · 23/04/2019 07:06

Ive seen loads of famous people though. Just not spoken to them.

Off the top of my head ive seen..
Simon Cowell
Chris Brown- (singer)
Frank Bruno in Hamleys
Natalie Cassidy in selfridges
Laila Morse leaving B&Q carpark last week
Janet Street Porter
Cheryl Tweedy
Vanessa Feltz

DirtyDeeds · 23/04/2019 08:35

@strawberrisc I count myself very lucky indeed. She was just so gracious and sweet and didn’t seem to have any ego attached at all. I was devastated when she passed away.

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 23/04/2019 09:16

Mine is shitty in light of events since. I used to work in a coffee shop that did book signings back in the early 00s and Rolf Harris attended. I made him drinks and spent ages talking to him as I was totally star struck and loved Animal Hospital when I was a kid. He was lovely, me and other colleagues had our photo taken with him. Obviously a bit tainted now.

Jimmy Carr was lovely and friendly and complimented me on my dress and said my (then) boyfriend was punching above his weight 😂

ShatnersWigIsActuallyAMammoth · 23/04/2019 09:24

@thiscannotbenormal I know! I actually met GOD. And had a brief chat with him.

SometimesIGetNervous · 23/04/2019 09:32

Friend of mine met Madonna. She was not impressed, said she looked grubby, wasn’t interested in being there and treated everyone like they were the great unwashed.

Whatjusthappenedthere · 23/04/2019 09:36

Gregor Fisher ( Rab C Nesbit et al ) - funny lovely charming.
Mick Jagger nearly knocked me off my feet barging up South Molton Street - twat.
Prince Phillip - intelligent engaging and interested in answers I gave to his questions.
Mud had breakfast in my kitchen when my Mum had booked them for a local gig ( didn’t know who they were at the time as I was only 10 ).
Princess Anne - cool but polite.
My sister met Tom Hanks at a book signing and she said he was amazing, charming, chatty, asked questions, gave compliments.

Whatjusthappenedthere · 23/04/2019 09:39

Oh and Johnny Ball at a science fest. Warm funny and had loads of time for my children and photographs.

Hoppinggreen · 23/04/2019 09:43

Gregg Wallace
Absolutely vile.
He shouted at me and I fixed him with a glare and said in my best cross mummy voice “do NOT speak to me like that!”
A hush descended as his jaw literally dropped and his entourage looked absolutely shocked - I dont think he was used to people answering back.
I then swept off with dd saying “ come on dd, let’s see if we can find some ACTUAL chefs to speak to” ( it was at a food fair).
One of my finest moments

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 23/04/2019 09:43

I was on the train once to london with a work colleague. She went off to the buffet car and did not come back for quite a while. She had bumped into Theresa Gorman and her darling husband. Apparently she's very down to earth and likes nothing better than a nice cup of tea!

Hoppinggreen · 23/04/2019 09:45

I also met Johnny Ball at a science fair and he was lovely as a PP said
John Noakes was very grumpy and borderline inappropriate

LittleMissHappy19 · 23/04/2019 09:53
