Does anyone else have a DH who NEVER puts anything away?

So today we had planned to go to our favourite place to Kayak.

DH gets them out of the garage but can’t find the plugs. Takes while garage apart looking for them (for hours) and we can’t go because we can’t find them or buy more today.

He spends hours pulling the house apart when he’s about to leave looking for keys/mobile phone/pass.

He thinks he super tidy - but he’s not and I love him to bits but ffs?!

Can never find tools, anything because he doesn’t put it away and will then deny any blame and it’s a joint responsibility (apparently) Hmm

Please tell me I am not alone Sad

He's being a dick. It's not your responsibility if he's used something and then just dumped it down somewhere. It's pathetic and rather selfish behaviour.

MrsSteve · 21/04/2019 16:46

He hasn’t actually admitted that it was him.....Envy

Yes! My DH is the same. I never tidy up after him and just remind him that he's left loads of stuff out when he was looking for whatever it was. He's also constantly losing things. It is what it is.

RomanyQueen1 · 21/04/2019 18:14

I have a family including myself who are like this, but yes dh does it too. Grin

SrSteveOskowski · 21/04/2019 18:16

Oh God yes! He gets it from his fucking lazy arse mother. Poor FIL spent most of his life tidying up, but was too quiet to say anything.

I'm not as quiet.

blackcat86 · 21/04/2019 18:17

My DH does this all the time. He's a real clutter bug and can never find anything. He leaves everything out on worktops and window ledges which drives me crazy! He's also taken over the garage with crap and the spare room (which now looks a teenagers bedroom). When he inevitably loses something he throws a big strop and his 'whole life is ruined' (nevermind his wife and 2 kids) and it'll never be seen again. I then find said item 2 mins later.....

DP is normally ok, but he's misplaced my bloody egg dyes so I'm more than slightly annoyed right now.

Ricekrispie22 · 21/04/2019 18:44

Clearing the dining room table for lunch today took about 20 minutes.

Winchestermom35 · 21/04/2019 19:08

My DP leaves everything all Over the house. To the point where he’ll make a drink for the kids and i’ll find the cupboards open, the cordial still on the kitchen side with the lid off.

I’m sure he thinks there’s a fairy that tidied up after people. Honestly, it’s like having an extra child sometimes. I alternate between cleaning after him, leaving it & pointing out the mess he’s left behind. It’s no wonder he can’t find anything. Ever

BeanBag7 · 21/04/2019 19:17

My husband does this but I'm almost as bad so I can't complain too much! And yes our house is a mess Wink

Brahms3rdracket · 21/04/2019 19:21

Yes! I just showed him this thread and he still thinks it's an unfair allegation and I'm untidy. He refuses to acknowledge that never putting something back in its place asap leads to mass clutter and then complains loudly about the state of the house.

He also loses stuff regularly, mainly wallet or keys, I don't because they have a place to live. It's been 25 years and I deserve a medal for tolerating this shit.

MrsSteve · 21/04/2019 19:22

He’s really really anal about cleanliness (he’s in the forces).

He went away to sea for 4 months once (and I was unable to communicate with him) and moved the fucking bottle opener. I had to borrow one from a neighbour.

I was considering moving before he returned with no forwarding address.

Yes to extent that he won’t even put the lids back on jars or screw the tops back on bottles. It’s such an advanced form of laziness I would be impressed if it wasn’t so utterly ridiculous.
