MIL giving alcohol to my one year old

okay, it was a few sips but to me it is unacceptable. I kept my mouth shut and my DH eventually said I don't think its a good idea but it took him long enough and was only when I gave a few evils that it stopped. AIBU to feel really pissed off/disgusted by this or would you think its harmless.

I'm not happy with it and will be telling DH to have a word to say it is never to happen again or I will be having words and they will not be as pleasant. Am I over reacting?

YABVVU. Prosecco is far to sweet and will give your baby a sweet tooth. You should have swapped it for cava at least.

hopeishere · 21/04/2019 18:28

Unless it was full to the brim I fail to see how they were actually getting any alcohol. Was she tipping the glass up to let them drink it?

HappyMama01 · 21/04/2019 18:42

At least let her sip on some Dom Perignon. Cheers! Wine

PreseaCombatir · 21/04/2019 18:43

When mine had toothaches I used to give them this white powder that came wrapped up in bits of paper

What’s with all the dramatic alcohol supping threads tonight?

Girlicorne · 21/04/2019 18:55

YABU. prosecco is vile! ;-)

tinytemper66 · 21/04/2019 19:55

Why did you wait for your husband to say something?

FromageFrais · 21/04/2019 20:16

Fuck sakeBiscuit

Driftingthoughlife · 21/04/2019 20:33

My uncle did this when my DS was 8 mouths old. My mum response was to stick mys ds bottle in his mouth and squeeze

NoSauce · 22/04/2019 07:47

Why the alarmist title?
Oh yes nobody would have bothered had you out “ my one year old grabbed MILs prosecco “ 🙄

InadvertentlyBrilliant · 22/04/2019 08:50

You were too shocked to do anything about it but expected your DH to do something about it?

Your title is misleading given your update. Your MIL didn't give your child alcohol, your child grabbed her glass from her on 3 occasions. Maybe your DC was thirsty and needed a (non-alcoholic) drink.

This thread is hilarious

saraclara · 22/04/2019 09:14

What a ridiculous title. You MIL didn't give your little one alcohol AT ALL.

What a drama queen.

saraclara · 22/04/2019 09:15

You said in the OP that she had "a few sips", then later it transpires that she put her lips on the glass. Unless the prosecco was tumbling out of the glass like a waterfall, she wouldn't have had any sips at all.
