Hi all

Started a new job a month ago in an office.....end of first week I caught a rotten cold, fair enough I thought, new building, new load of germs. Cold lasted 3 weeks then finished work Thursday for bank holiday weekend and Friday I’m weak as a kitten, achy muscles, my right lung feels tight and sore.
I haven’t managed to spend any weekend taking my kids anywhere since I started work cos I feel so shit I’m spending my weekends resting and recooperating.

Is this normal?

I haven’t heard of people having a tight lung that feels sore - you need to see your GP. Also advise about the cold preceding this.

Well I would get it checked out.

But also I got a virus when I started a scary new job that lasted WEEKS. Looking back, I should have chilled and put my feet up a bit - I was just really run down. Also a bit anaemia as it turned out. Do you have heavy periods? Might be the same if so.

Good luck OP. You won't be this way forever.

Self care with fluids and paracetamol til you can see your GP if chest still tight.

Scrupulous hand-washing at work, hand gel might help.

Do you have your own dedicated desk? Current place I work operates a hot desking policy, so people keep reinfecting others with the lurgy. I personally get in early and use anti bacterial wipes on the mouse and keyboard!

@Ivegotthree I have two heavy days during my period, was on two weeks ago during the rotten cold

Bet it's the air conditioning.

Go to your GP if unwell. That could be chest infection or something more.
A new set of people, air conditioning, all are ways to spread new sets of germs.

We moved to a large new office building quite a few years ago. The air conditioning makes me & several others unwell. (Repeated chest infections & flu, sinus problems, asthma, hayfever inside)

I was like this all last year - bug after bug after bug, and taking much longer than normal to recover. It was anaemia. Two months of prescription iron tablets and I am like a new woman. Go and get a blood test and I hope you feel better soon.

Auramigraine · 21/04/2019 07:38

Thanks all I have managed get in my doctors for an appointment this morning. Will mention a blood test aswell. Air conditioning is awful and most likely the reason behind all this Angry
