Problems with Aircon after car service

Took car for 3rd service 2 weeks ago. As it's still under warranty until July I had to use a major garage.
Booked in - confirmed price Took car in - fine. 3 hours later receive phone call to say all ok - tyres fine etc did I want air con regas. Asked them price and said I'd call them back. Phoned around and discovered its £150 and, as it's been fine up to now ( don't use it much, asked main dealer if it was essential. They said no - all fine ATM. Collected car +paid all good. It's not Been that warm here until this weekend. Used it yesterday and it's making a funny noise and basically just blowing warm air around.
Is it just coincidence it's stopped working or do garages De gas Aircon at 3 year service? TIA

They don’t de gas it during a service. I can’t imagine they would by mistake either.

To get a regas shouldn’t cost anything like £150. Look up your local ATS Euromaster and give them a call.

PS I’ve just checked and they charge £59

Sometimes a stone off the road can hit something and cause it to leak - it’s happened to both my husbands car and my parents.

If your car is only 3 years old it will have a newer more expensive ac gas, costing around £200 to re gas.
These were underfilled in the factory so will need topping up by 2 or 3 years old.
Not the garages fault sorry.

Not being daft, but have they switched recirculate off?

I absolutely don’t know anyone that didn’t notice recirculate had been turned off during a service and kicked up a fuss that they had broken —my— their aircon Blush

My car was 4 years old last summer when I had to have it done, but that was due to a stone going through the condenser causing a leak. It had been working fine up until then, and I have it on pretty much all the time.
It was pretty expensive as it needed the new condenser too.
