Personality crisis

I feel like I have no personality. I see people around me chatting, joking, talking to each other etc. I'm a very sociable person and I'm very loving, but I'm not very good at talking to people in a way that keeps their interest. I feel like I'm really boring. I'm attracted to very intelligent people, but just can't seem to engage or keep up with their conversation.

I feel like I'm having a real personality crisis. I don't know who I am and feel like I don't exist.

Had anyone else ever experienced similar?

I have felt exactly the same way. Over they years, I've just learnt to live with it BUT that's not to say you should. I'm quite happy with my life as it is, but every so often, I do feel like the odd one out. As though I'm separated from everyone else by a barrier that I can't breach.

I feel really similar @MatthewBramble - I'm a great judge of character, I'm smart and have degrees under my belt, as well as lots of life experience. I just feel like I never know what to say. I'm unbelievably anxious and constantly daydreaming that I'm someone else. It's odd. I feel so down about it and detached from my self.

I was much like you until we did a Dale Carnegie course at work. One exercise was asking the other person things about themselves but you weren't allowed to jump in with 'oh I did that etc....', you just had to ask them questions about themselves and keep asking. Real eye opener.

Yes I sometimes feel this way.

I dont lead a very exciting life and at times I struggle to find something interesting to say especially when surrounded by work colleagues who have very exciting social lives and travel to exciting holiday locations.

Im very content with my life and am a happy go lucky, kind, thoughtful person so Im hoping this comes across in my personality and compensates for the areas I lack in.

There is only one you and you have unique personality traits that someone else would love to have so keep telling yourself that when you are having doubts.
