I'm a model (signed with 2 pretty big agencies in London) and have 2/3 jobs each month usually. Started age 18.
Go on castings constantly though which gets tiresome.
Haven't worked for any designer brands yet but a fair few beauty/makeup jobs and swimwear/lingerie.

I'm also a student studying natural sciences at a university in London in my 2nd year.Smile

I will be looking for a job relating to my degree after graduation but if my modelling picks up more before then I'll definitely dedicate full time to that after graduating.

(I'm 20 years old for reference)

Quality control in a microbiology lab

I work in IT in a University where I manage all the systems associated with teaching and learning. So virtual learning environments, recording lectures, managing online submissions, coursework and exams etc.

Not much travel unless it's to conferences, usually within the U.K. However if we set up joint programmes with other universities I sometimes have to go out and help set up the online component. I'm currently trying to swing a trip to Singapore

MidnightBlue00 · 20/04/2019 19:03

@heatwave2019

Mummyto2munchkins · 20/04/2019 19:08

I'm a Veterinary Receptionist :)
Cuddles with the puppies and kittens are the highlight!
A 5 week old puppy that was abandoned at the side of the road with Parvo Virus was one of the saddest ones... He's very happy and healthy now and also has a home with the gentleman who found him!

madcatladyforever · 20/04/2019 19:10

Dual qualified nurse and podiatrist but my dream is to be an artist and writer.

HBStowe · 20/04/2019 19:11

I’m a lawyer - much less glamorous than modelling!

Coldilox · 20/04/2019 19:12

I’m in the police, a detective sergeant at the moment. Currently working in a main CID office. For many years I was a specialist rape investigator, but we got closed down due to budget cuts (the force decided to do away with a lot of specialisms). I loved my old job and was gutted. This one is ok but I’m not as passionate about it. I keep an eye on other posts coming up but nothing taken my fancy so far. I have considered leaving the police but not sure what else I’d do, I very much feel this job is part of me.

I have previously been a teacher (hated it) and worked in HR (quite liked it but decided to join the police, it was a bit like a calling).

Chesneyhawkes1 · 20/04/2019 19:15

I'm a train driver. I guess I do travel with work but nowhere interesting and the same places every day 😂

RussellSprout · 20/04/2019 19:17

I work in a regional hr role, so I get to drive around the country helping managers deal with difficult situations involving their staff.

girlwithadragontattoo · 20/04/2019 19:17

I live abroad and I'm a reservations manager for a travel company . It's just starting to enter busy season again

MinnieMountain · 20/04/2019 19:19

Another solicitor.

jenthelibrarian what is your job market like? I'd love to retrain but worry that the work isn't there.

darkriver19886 · 20/04/2019 19:20

At the moment disabled so don't work in a proper job. However, I am writing a novel and I run a blog.

EnglishRose13 · 20/04/2019 19:24

I'm a buyer. I've recently started a new job for a manufacturing company. There will be travel to China, Poland and Belgium soon. I've studied alongside working full time and looking after my son. It's been a lot of hard work but it's definitely worth it.

snickerdoodlediddle · 20/04/2019 19:25

I'm an editor for a travel website. I absolutely love it and get to eat out, stay in hotels and go places for free. Cons? Logistics with childcare and trying to keep the writing original and find something unique when it's a place that's similar to many others. Also, I've gained a fair bit of weight since I started. Blush

Hoppinggreen · 20/04/2019 19:27

Self employed Relocator
When big companies move staff to the UK they contract a company to help them relocate - and they sub contract it to local Relocators ( like me)
It’s flexible as I can turn down work and make my own timetable. Plus I meet lots of interesting people from all around the world and every assignment is different
It’s quite well paid ( will be even more so when DS starts Secondary next year and I can take on more work) but can be stressful when you have people who are used to things a certain way and don’t like it when you explain how things are here - eg, you can’t apply for a school place without an address or I know you earn £££££ but you can’t rent that apartment as you failed the credit check!!
Really love it though

BelulahBlanca · 20/04/2019 19:28

So many cool and interesting jobs. I feel when I was in school we weren’t informed about how many different routes you could take.

ToTheLetter · 20/04/2019 19:29

I work for a train operating company. I sell tickets/look after my little station.

PumpkinPie2016 · 20/04/2019 19:36

I'm a teacher (secondary) - mostly it's ok and fun.

I wish, however, that I'd followed my heart and joined the police. If the chance arises in the next few years I may still apply.

whitehalleve · 20/04/2019 19:37

Senior civil servant. I choose not to travel now.

senttomefromheaven · 20/04/2019 19:43

Occupational Nurse in a biscuit factory- very random 😂😂. But I enjoy it. Get free biscuits 🍪

TheDarkPassenger · 20/04/2019 19:45

I work for the police, as part of a specialised project and I love it but it has opened my eyes to why people do things, which in turn has made me fuming over people’s ignorant rants over Facebook so i rarely go on anymore. So it’s defintley changed my life and way of thinking.
It’s flexi and my manager and our commissioner are the two most amazing people on this bloody earth so I feel extremely lucky. I’ve travelled a bit but always been a homebody and haven’t travelled for years now except in the country for work

m0therofdragons · 20/04/2019 19:52

Head of Communications - internal and external.

redbedheadd · 20/04/2019 19:54

I do marketing and PR for technology companies. It's very varied, lots of elements to it like writing copy for websites, press releases, writing reports, managing social media, organising parties and events....Big opportunity for travel... I'd usually go away 5-8 times a year for events and meetings.

tinytemper66 · 20/04/2019 19:59

Secondary English teacher but love to travel 🧭

ProfessorofPerspective · 20/04/2019 20:00

Area manager for a national charity, really like it. Local travel but live in a beautiful part of the county, so that's ok!
