To ask why people feel the need to say they've NC?

Just that really. I've NC before for a post but didn't feel it was necessary to say so.

Because otherwise there’s no history when they search your name....

nutbrownhare15 · 20/04/2019 11:53

Presumably because they think they might be accused of being a troll if they don't have posting history

TheQueef · 20/04/2019 11:53

To verify provenance and prove they are long term mnet members.

Chamomileteaplease · 20/04/2019 11:53

I think it just shows that although the reader may not recognise the name, the poster is a regular mumsnetter.

CupcakeDrama · 20/04/2019 11:54

Ive seen people be accused of being a troll because its their “first post” so maybe thats why

winepls · 20/04/2019 11:55

Ahhh these reasons all make sense, partic the troll one 👍🏼

It doesn't prove a thing though.
It's often pretty obvious when someone NC to post unpleasant stuff that they don't want associated with their usual username anyway.

PinkHeart5914 · 20/04/2019 12:11

Anyone searching a username for previous posts, probably needs to get a life tbh, but some saddos on here feel the need and if they don’t find anything you are obviously a troll 🙄

It just doesn’t occur to some people that someone might want to talk about an issue and it may be sensitive or whatever and they don’t want to use the regular user name

continuallychargingmyphone · 20/04/2019 16:59

It takes seconds, honestly seconds, to do an advance search.

When I see ‘AIBU to think that black people are just too sensitive - NCd for this, sorry’ I know it’s a troll.

When I see ‘my DH has been having an affair for 9 months and his mistress just gave birth to triplets and they all have blue eyes, but DHs are brown. AIBU to think they can’t be his’ I do go Hmm
