To ask what we can do to keep 2 under 4s happy when stuck in a hotel in cold and rainy ibiza?

Not having a great time. Have picked the worst week ever for our only 'sun' holiday this year. Really not helped by seeing the pictures of the whole of the UK basking in glorious sunshine Grin

So we are in windy and wet ibiza. No change forecast until the day we fly home Confused. Stuck in an apartment with a 3 year old and not quite walking 15 month old (who wants to hold hands and walk endlessly in and out of the bathroom). We did try and brave the pool yesterday but it was far too cold. Anyone have any ideas? DH is talking about trying to get an early flight home!

Are there any indoor amenities at the hotel or locally? Such as a games room or indoor pool? I know your husband's plan sounds extreme, but looking at the weather I would be inclined to agree with him. Why prolong the holiday if none of you are enjoying yourselves?

LillyBugg · 20/04/2019 07:25

There must be indoor activities in Ibiza somewhere? Like soft play, leisure pool etc? Sorry it's shit OP.

x2boys · 20/04/2019 07:28

Ah what a shame Sad is there anywhere with indoor pools or heated outdoor pools?what leisure activities have the complex got on?.what are other families doing?

AnOfficerAtLeastOneRankHigher · 20/04/2019 07:33

We are in a fairly quiet part. Googling isn't bringing anything up - no indoor pools or soft play that we can see Sad

Hire a car and explore the island?

PillowTalker · 20/04/2019 07:37

Yeah, I'd ditch it, and go home.

You'll laugh about this in 10 years..

LeonoraFlorence · 20/04/2019 07:37

Is there any way you could hire a car and drive to indoor soft play/shopping centres? Any near by bigger hotels you could visit with soft play? I feel for you, especially with two little ones.

MrsElizabethShelby · 20/04/2019 07:39

Where about are you op? Maybe the search masters of Mumsnet can help?

MirandaWest · 20/04/2019 07:39

I think getting an early flight home sounds a good idea.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 20/04/2019 07:40

There’s an aquarium aquariumcapblanc.com/

speakout · 20/04/2019 07:40

I'm with your OH - I'd try to get home early.

I too once tried to have a sun holiday in Spain in April- goosebumps by the pool and freezing cold water.

April weather is Spain can be hit or miss. Chalk it up to experience.

You would be having more fun at home.

SushiGo · 20/04/2019 07:41

Have you asked the hotel staff? Some of them might have their own kids and suggestions?

Otherwise if you can afford it I'd be tempted to sack it off.

userxx · 20/04/2019 07:43

What a shame, how long have you got left of your holiday? There's nothing worse than being abroad with shit weather, the only thing to do is drink your way through but with two little ones that's not an option.

lanbro · 20/04/2019 07:45

Oh no...We once went to Spain in May and it poured for 8 out of our 11 days, then glorious on the day we were leaving. We spent a fortune on taxis going to various attractions but it was a bloody hard week. Maybe make a scavenger hunt for the eldest, could while away a few hours hunting the hotel for things...how very disappointing for you ☹

underneaththeash · 20/04/2019 07:46

Is there a hotel nearby with an indoor pool? If you call they may let you use it for a fee.

Otherwise could you just treat it like a wet Cornish holiday and get some raincoats on and Go to the beach anyway?

Our disasterous weather holiday was south of France in mid-May. The temperature didn’t go above 10deg for the whole week and we hadn’t bought any warm clothes with us! We did go home a couple of days early.

funmummy48 · 20/04/2019 07:46

This happened to us in Majorca, eleven years ago. It was the worst weather they'd had there in 30 years. We hired a car but everywhere was foggy. We stuck it out for the week but I wished we'd come home. Good luck!

tablelegs · 20/04/2019 07:50

What part of Ibiza are you in?

BarbaraofSevillle · 20/04/2019 07:50

This is my worst nightmare, going on a sun holiday, getting shit weather and it being better at home.

Honestly, I would look into coming home early, but on this thread, the aquarium and an indoor pool somewhere sounds like the best suggestion.

SuperSara · 20/04/2019 07:50

I think that, given your DC’s ages, I’d also be looking at coming home early.

Museums, shopping, etc, aren’t really going to entertain them. If the weather’s not going to change you’re just prolonging the pain.

Tootiredtosleepnow · 20/04/2019 07:51

Where abouts in Ibiza are you staying? To be totally honest there isn't an awful lot to do in this weather...there is a couple of half decent soft play areas though, one in Ibiza town the other in Playa den Bossa.

SolitudeAtAltitude · 20/04/2019 07:55

Bad luck :(

Try and come home?

Tootiredtosleepnow · 20/04/2019 08:00

Sorry posted too soon. Also if you aren't local to the aquarium I wouldn't go out of your way for it. It isn't the type of aquarium you normally get, it's one big cave with the fish in their natural setting....no tanks etc personally I think its lovely but probably not all that exciting for the little ones.
There is a bowling and arcade type place in ibiza town also.
Really trying to think of other options for you, we have the same dilemma whenever it rains with our 3year old.

minionsrule · 20/04/2019 08:01

We flew back from Greece yesterday and we had similar weather. Had 1.5 days of sun but thankfully we were there for only 5 nights, had a day of thunderstorms dsy beforr departure... got back to a very warm UK 😐. Sorry op no ideas for you but hope it gets better for you

Ohyesiam · 20/04/2019 08:03

We came home from an unexpectedly freezing holiday to sunny warm Somerset. It was lovely.

Cantthinkofausername1990 · 20/04/2019 08:03

Hire a car and take a drive around to other parts of the island... there are some nice hidden beaches etc, even if you drove there, let the kids out for a walk on the beach, had something to eat and came back it would pass the time
